Honda WN7 Electric Motorcycle Design Patent Filed in India

Based on the EV Fun concept, Honda WN7 is powered by a 9.3 kWh fixed lithium-ion battery which returns range of 140 km on a single charge

Honda WN7, the Japanese brand’s first all-electric motorcycle, debuted at EICMA 2025 in Milan, Italy. Based on the EV Fun concept, it was rolled out with a fixed battery pack. Now, the company has filed the design patent of the WN7 electric motorcycle in India. We had reported to you that the WN7 will be locally developed at Honda’s Kumamoto Factory in Japan while launching in several global markets in a phased manner. Now, the filing of the design patent in the Indian market indicates that Honda WN7 could be launched here later this year.

Previewing the “Be the Wind” development concept, the ‘W’ in the name of the electric bike stands for “Be the Wind” development concept, while the letter ‘N’ denotes “Naked,” followed by the number ‘7’ which indicates the output class. Honda WN7 tips the weighing scale at 217 kg. It was launched in the UK at a starting price of £12,999 which roughly translates into Rs 17 lakh.

Honda WN7 comes with the signature horizontal light bar upfront which will also be seen in Honda’s future electric motorcycles. It gets black as the basic body colour, which is accented with multiple golden components. Honda claims that this colour theme will also make its way in the upcoming global electric models, identical to the light bar. A few other notable design elements visible in the patent images are wider handlebars, bar-end circular mirrors and single-piece seat.

Sitting on a frameless structure with a monocoque subframe, Honda WN7 will come loaded with several premium features in the form of 5-inch TFT instrument console, Honda RoadSync connectivity, Regenerative braking, Deceleration Selector and Walking Speed Mode. It will directly rival Ola Roadster X, Oben Rorr Evo and Revolt RV 400 in the domestic market in India.

The WN7’s 9.3 kWh lithium-ion battery is placed at the center of the chassis in an aluminium casing. It will have a maximum range of 140 km (WMTC mode) on a full charge. The battery pack is linked to a newly developed, compact and lightweight water-cooled electric motor which generates max power of 67 bhp and peak torque of 100 Nm. The power output is equivalent to a 600cc ICE bike while the torque is identical to a 1000cc ICE motorcycle.

Featuring a belt-drive system, Honda WN7 will be a rear-wheel-drive motorcycle. Apart from the conventional home charging, Honda WN7 is also compatible with CCS2 fast charging. While the normal charging takes 2.4 hours to fully charge the battery from scratch to 100 percent, the CCS2 fast-charging takes merely 30 mins for 20 percent to 80 percent charge.
