The Dominar is the first Bajaj motorcycle to get the downsized 350cc engine, which will soon make its way in the Pulsar NS400Z
Bajaj Auto has officially launched the Dominar 400 with a 350cc engine in the Indian market. Priced at Rs 2.03 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), it is nearly Rs 37,000 cheaper than the earlier price with a 400cc engine. Bajaj Dominar 400 price has come down due to the downsized 350cc engine as it now attracts lower GST of 18 percent as compared to 40 percent tax on 400cc version. The bike has already reached company dealerships with the 350cc engine and it remains to be the same in terms of design, features and cycle parts.
Speaking on the announcement, Sarang Kanade, President – MCBU, Bajaj Auto Ltd., said, “Dominar has always stood for our touring DNA – powerful, capable, and built for the long road. With the new Dominar 400 with 350cc engine we are staying true to that promise while making it significantly more accessible. Riders get the same Dominar experience they love, but now with a much lower cost of ownership, including meaningful savings. This is a decisive step towards democratizing touring and sports motorcycling in India.”
Bajaj Auto has downsized the existing 373cc engine to 349.13cc by reducing the stroke from 60 mm to 56.1 mm while the bore has been retained at 89 mm. The power and torque figures have also gone down by 2.4 bhp and 1.8 bhp, respectively, as the 350cc mill is rumoured to produce top power of 40 bhp at 9000 rpm and peak torque of 33.2 Nm at 7500 rpm.

Looking at the figures, it is highly unlikely that overall performance of the Dominar 350 will be affected. The 350cc engine, still a single-cylinder liquid-cooled unit, will be paired with a 6-speed gearbox, slip and assist clutch, and single spark plug. Despite being equipped with a 350cc engine, the bike continues with the Dominar 400 nameplate. Earlier, the brand followed the same approach with the Triumph 350cc bikes, as they too retained their original ‘400’ badging.
Earlier, there used to be a uniform GST on two-wheelers at 28 percent. However, things changed in Sep 2025 when the Indian government rolled out the GST 2.0 with changes in tax slabs on two-wheelers, depending on the engine capacity. This led to the increased GST on Dominar 400. However, as an interim measure, Bajaj absorbed this hike and did not pass it on to the buyers.

Bikes with engine capacity below 350cc attract 18 percent as compared to 40 percent tax on models with engine capacity above 350cc. Hence, the company has carried out this move to enjoy the benefits of lower tax. The 400cc version of the Dominar will be discontinued in the coming days as the 350cc model has gone on sale in the Indian market.
