The Burgman 400 was showcased at the 2026 Suzuki Matsuri in Mumbai as the company attempted to gauge the customer interest before launching it in India

Suzuki Burgman 400 has finally landed on the Indian soil. The maxi-scooter made its first public appearance among the Indian auto aficionados at the second edition of Suzuki Matsuri at Richardson & Cruddas, Mulund, Mumbai on April 12, 2026. Though originally the event was headlined by the recently launched 2026 Burgman Street, the surprise showcasing of the Burgman 400 hinted that Suzuki is gauging customer response before making any decision to officially launch the scooter in the Indian market.

Suzuki Burgman 400 is sold in developed markets such as the US and Europe. Being a premium maxi-scooter, it is priced at $8,799 which roughly translates to Rs 7.30 lakh. Hence, if at all, Suzuki intends to launch the maxi-scooter in India, it will cater to a niche customer base while locking horns with BMW C400 GT which is priced at Rs 10.83 lakh (ex-showroom).

Design-wise, Suzuki Burgman 400 flaunts twin LED headlamp setup and tall windscreen while riding on 15-inch front wheel. It is 2,235 mm long with a wheelbase of 1,580 mm, which makes it quite larger than the Burgman Street. Since the maxi-scooter has a massive road presence, it tips the weighing scale at 218 kg. Generally, scooters are considered lightweight offerings, but of late the premium and touring-friendly models introduced by key brands have weighed on the heavier side.

The main frame is suspended by telescopic front forks and link-type rear suspension with preload adjustability.

Equipped with raised handlebars and a broad stepped seat, the scooter is powered by a 400cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled petrol engine. Although the official power and torque figures are not available, several media outlets have reported them to be in the ballpark of 29-31 bhp and 35-36 Nm, respectively.
