Triumph Bonneville 400 India Launch in Q4 2026

The Bonneville 400, produced locally by Bajaj at the Pune factory, will be a direct rival to the Royal Enfield Classic 350 in the Indian market

Recently, the first clear images of the Triumph Bonneville 400 emerged from Europe as the bike was spotted testing without any camouflage. Identical to the other 400 models in Triumph India’s line-up, it will be powered by the new 349cc engine as it launches ahead of the Diwali festive season around Sep-Oct 2026 in our country. The Bonneville would be the seventh 400 motorcycle in the British brand’s portfolio after the Speed T4, Speed 400, Scrambler 400X, Scrambler 400 XC, Thruxton 400 and Tracker 400.

The Bonneville 400 will be pitted against the Royal Enfield Classic 350 in the Indian market due to its retro styling. The company tried to position the Speed 400 as the Classic 350’s primary rival, but because of its modern and neo-retro looks, Triumph was unable to do so. However, with the Bonneville 400, it has a great chance to offer an alternative to the mighty Classic 350.

As per the spy images, the Bonneville 400 would flaunt a circular LED headlamp upfront with a belly pan. It rides on wire-spoke wheels with tubed tyres to appeal to the old-school motorcycling enthusiasts. Some of the other notable design highlights include teardrop-shaped fuel tank, revised radiator grille, single exhaust pipe and lower handlebars.

The Bonneville 400 would use traditional elements instead of premium cycle parts as we see in the Speed 400. It will boast of telescopic front forks in place of the Speed 400’s USD front suspension. At the rear, the bike will have twin-shock absorbers and to accommodate this setup, the brand is likely to use a new subframe and swingarm or a heavily modified version of the existing unit.

The stopping power will come from front and rear disc units, which will be assisted by a dual-channel ABS. Interestingly, the Bonneville 400 houses a circular instrument cluster as compared to the semi-circular unit seen in the Speed 400. Also, the front disc is positioned on the right side while the Speed 400 has the same disc brake on the left side.

At the heart, the India-spec Bonneville 400 would be packed with the new 349cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine which generates max power of 36.5 bhp and peak torque of 32 Nm with the Speed 400 and Scrambler models. These power and torque figures are expected to be retained with the Bonneville 400. The engine will be paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
