Triumph 350cc Bikes India Launch by April 2026: Rajiv Bajaj

Rajiv Bajaj has confirmed to CNBC-TV18 that Triumph bikes with the 350cc engine will go on sale by April 2026 in the Indian market

We have been hearing for quite a few months that Triumph is working on a new 350cc portfolio of motorcycles for the Indian market. Now, Rajiv Bajaj, MD & CEO of Bajaj Auto, confirmed that the new Triumph 350cc bikes are ready to hit the roads by April 2026. The British brand presently retails five models in the 400cc segment which includes the Speed T4, Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X. All of these motorcycles are expected to come with the 350cc engine in order to enjoy the lower GST benefits which will subsequently result in reduced pricing.

In Sep 2025, the Union government of India introduced GST 2.0 in the country. Due to this overhaul in the taxation system, bikes with engine capacity of 350cc and below were taxed at 18 percent from the existing 28 percent. On the other hand, the bikes with engine displacement above 350cc were capped at 40 percent, which is well above from the previous GST of 31 percent.

Triumph initially absorbed the price hike on its 400 bikes, which was necessitated due to the higher GST, instead of passing it directly to the customers. However, it was an interim measure as the company couldn’t absorb it forever and hence, it started working on a downsized version of the existing 398cc single-cylinder engine which we see in all the 400 bikes.

The 350cc engine will not be an all-new engine, as indicated by several reports. Instead, it has been developed from the 398cc engine by reducing its bore while retaining the stroke. The reduction in bore will lead to a lower displacement and the 350cc engine is expected to deliver decent torque in low and mid-range. The overall performance is also likely to be more or less the same.

By introducing the 350cc version of the Speed T4, Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X, Triumph will be able to price these bikes aggressively due to lower GST of 18 percent as compared to present tax of 40 percent. Presently, the brand retails nearly 4000 units of these bikes on an average in the domestic market despite the higher pricing as compared to its rival models.

There is still no word on the future of 400 models post the launch of the 350cc bikes. It is still unclear whether they will be phased out from the domestic market in India and only made for export purposes or they will continue to be sold here. Hence, it will be better to wait for an official announcement from the British brand which is likely to happen in the coming weeks.
