Hero VxZ Electric Motorcycle Design Patented in India

The VxZ has been co-developed by Hero MotoCorp and US-based Zero Motorcycles for the Indian market

Hero MotoCorp announced the Project VxZ at EICMA 2025 in Milan, Italy. Presented as the brand’s first mass-market electric motorcycle, it has been co-developed by the US-based Zero Motorcycles. Now, the company has filed the design patent of the Project VxZ in the Indian market. The patent images reveal that Hero VxZ is not the reworked version of any Zero model, instead an all-new electric bike created from scratch. The launch timeline is not known yet but we can expect the production-ready version to debut at the EICMA 2026 in November.

The design patent suggests that the all-electric naked streetfighter will come in a sporty design with sharp LED headlamp and turn indicators. The USD front forks and monoshock rear suspension can also be noticed in the patent images. The ‘VxZ’ stands for Vida x Zero which confirms that both the companies have jointly developed this electric motorcycle.

Some of the other notable highlights of the Project VxZ are 5-spoke alloy wheels, stepped seat, signature Vida LED DRLs and a compact tail section. It will be offered with a belt-drive system. The electric motorcycle will get petal disc units at front and rear as standard. There will be an all-digital instrument panel with multiple ride modes.

Hero VxZ electric motorcycle boasts of a 17-inch front alloy wheel with 110/70 section tubeless tyre. Since the main frame of the Project VxZ does not match with any existing Zero electric motorcycle, it is believed that both the brands have built an all-new platform specifically for the Indian market. Needless to state, the VxZ will be sold under Vida badging in India.

Hero MotoCorp has kept the technical specs of the VxZ strictly under the wraps. However, due to the almost similar size and positioning of the battery pack as the electric bikes from Zero, it is speculated that Hero VxZ could share the battery with them. Just so you know, Zero Motorcycles come with a range between 160 km and 275 km, depending on the configuration.

Apart from the VxZ, Hero MotoCorp is also working on the Ubex electric motorcycle. Showcased at the EICMA 2025, it is said to be a neo-naked urban hypermoto model. Underpinned by a modular platform, Hero Vida Ubex was unveiled in a dual-tone paint scheme with red body panels and white frame. Meanwhile, Royal Enfield is also working aggressively on electric motorcycles and is expected to launch two new models in 2026.
