KTM has issued a recall for the 2025-26 390 Adventure R, 390 Adventure X, 390 Enduro R and 390 SMC R on the basis of internal quality inspections
KTM has announced a voluntary recall for 2025-26 models of the 390 Adventure R, 390 Adventure X, 390 Enduro R and 390 SMC R across the globe. This recall exercise has been carried out to replace the faulty side stand spring in these bikes. The Europe-based two-wheeler brand stated that internal quality inspections have revealed that engine vibrations may cause the side stand spring to break. However, this issue is limited to forged side stands and does not include side stands of any other type. The India-spec models remain unaffected by this recall exercise.
“Although only a few cases have been identified, KTM is taking decisive action to eliminate any potential risk and uphold the highest standards of performance and safety. Customers are requested to visit an authorized KTM dealer for replacement of the side stand spring,” read the official statement from the brand. KTM further advised the customers to replace the side stand spring and get a rubber protection fitted by a company authorised dealer.
“To support customers riding safely to the dealer, KTM recommends securing the side stand with a rubber band or a similar solution. On specific vehicles, a new side stand sensor retaining plate will also be installed during the workshop visit. This component adjusts the trigger range of the side stand switch. Authorized KTM dealers will instruct customers if their motorcycle requires this additional update,” said KTM in its press statement.

The company is actively contacting all the customers affected by this issue through letters. It is requesting the customers to get in touch with an authorized KTM dealer to arrange an appointment for replacement. The Austria-based two-wheeler brand said that the replacement process will be performed free of cost and exclusively by KTM’s authorized dealer network.
“Verification of affected motorcycles and a complete list of dealers are available in the ‘Service’ section of the official KTM website. This measure reinforces KTM’s dedication to quality, rider safety, and sustained customer trust. Through prompt and decisive action, KTM ensures its motorcycles maintain the highest standards of performance and dependability,” stated the company statement.

Recently, Bajaj Auto, the India-based two-wheeler brand became the majority stakeholder in KTM as the acquisition process was smoothly conducted. The €800-million (Around Rs 7,765 Crore) deal was approved by the European authorities. Bajaj-KTM partnership in India goes a long way back as the two brands joined hands in 2007 when the Indian brand acquired a 14.5 percent stake in the Austrian brand.
