The Aerox-E high-performance electric scooter shares a lot of elements with its ICE counterpart, which is the Aerox 155
Yamaha India has unveiled the Aerox-E high-performance electric scooter in the domestic market. It already retails the ICE-powered Aerox 155 and Aerox 155 S in the Indian market. Based on the Japanese brand’s traditional design language, Yamaha Aerox-E launch in India is not confirmed yet. However, if it goes on sale in our country, then it will directly lock horns with Ola S1 Pro Sport which is priced at Rs 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The Aerox-E price is likely to start at around Rs 1.60 lakh (ex-showroom).
The all-electric maxi sports scooter adorns Yamaha’s “Heart-Shaking Speedster” design philosophy with premium elements such as ‘X’ Centre Motif, Dual-LED Class-D headlights, LED flashers and a 3D-effect LED taillight. The company claims that the Aerox-E boasts of ergonomic grips for quick removal of the battery packs so that they can be charged at home.
Yamaha Aerox-E has been equipped with an array of premium features such as Single-channel ABS, Smart key system, Reverse mode, Boost mode and Multiple ride modes (Eco, Standard, and Power). It gets a 5-inch coloured TFT screen with Y-connect mobile app connectivity to access a plethora of functions in the form of turn-by-turn navigation, maintenance reminders and last parked location.

The Aerox-E boasts of disc brakes at both the ends as standard fitment. It is powered by dual detachable 3 kWh battery packs which return a certified range of 106 km on a single charge. The company states that the twin batteries are equipped with high energy type cells for superior performance. The battery packs are connected to an electric motor which develops top power of 12.6 bhp and peak torque of 48 Nm.
Commenting on the announcement, Mr. Itaru Otani, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group, said: “India is central to Yamaha’s global growth strategy — a market where we see immense potential across both premium and electric mobility segments. The introduction of the XSR brand, our new EV models and the FZ-Rave mark a decisive step in strengthening our presence and aligning with India’s evolving mobility landscape. With these launches, we are deepening our connect with riders who seek performance, design, and technology, while also responding to the nation’s transition towards sustainable transportation.”

Apart from the Aerox electric scooter, Yamaha also showcased its first locally developed electric scooter for the Indian market. Dubbed as Yamaha EC 06, it is based on River Indie. The electric scooter is likely to go on sale in the first quarter of 2026 with price and delivery timeline being revealed around this time.
