The first three positions in Sep 2025 sales in the domestic market were occupied by TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak and Ather Rizta
TVS iQube emerged as the best-selling electric scooter in Sep 2025 in the Indian market. The company sold a total of 30,820 units of the e-scooter last month as compared to 28,529 units retailed during Sep 2024. It recorded a YoY sales growth of 8 percent and retained the topmost position in the electric two-wheeler segment. TVS Motor Company had retailed 24,434 units of the iQube electric scooter in Aug 2025 and hence, the MoM growth in Sep 2025 was even bigger at 26 percent.
Bajaj Chetak bounced back handsomely in Sep 2025 and its sales almost doubled from Aug 2025. The Pune-based two-wheeler sold 30,558 units of the Chetak electric scooter last month and narrowly missed out on becoming the highest selling electric two-wheeler in the Indian market. It witnessed a YoY growth of 7 percent as 28,517 units were retailed in Sep 2024.

The MoM sales registered a staggering growth of over 118 percent as Bajaj had managed to retail only 14,014 units of the Chetak in Aug 2025 due to global shortage of rare earth magnets. The company had to partially shut down production in Aug 2025 as the supply of rare earth magnets, used in the electric motor of the scooter, was hampered due to the new restrictions imposed by China.

Ather Rizta occupied the third position behind TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak in Sep 2025 sales in India. The Bengaluru-based EV startup sold 18,919 units of the Rizta family scooter last month as compared to 9,867 units in Sep 2024, and hence by recording a sensational YoY growth of 92 percent. Ather Energy has been making steady progress in the EV biz over the last few months with the roll out of multiple new models.
Hero MotoCorp retails two electric scooters under the Vida sub-brand in the form of V2 and VX2 in the Indian market. While the V2 is a premium model, the VX2 is an economical electric scooter aimed at mass-market buyers. The company sold a total of 15,329 electric scooters last month against 5,352 units in Sep 2024. The YoY growth stood at 186 percent.

In all, as we can see through this sales data, electric scooters have finally found acceptance in India. The e-scooters are being trusted by the people and in all likelihood, we will get to see this industry flourishing at a rapid pace and touching new heights of glory in the next few years. We will also witness the launch of several new electric scooters in this segment in 2026-27.
