Having said that, the action is not going to stop anytime soon but further amplify as in the coming 6-8 months, we will get to see at least four new electric scooters in the domestic market from mainstream brands like Yamaha, Suzuki and Bajaj among others. Hence, in this piece, we will talk in detail about the four upcoming electric scooters in 2026-27 in India.
1. Suzuki e-Access
Suzuki’s first electric scooter is all set to launch in the next few days in the Indian market. Unveiled at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo, it entered series production in May at the company’s factory in Gurgaon, Haryana. The latest we have heard is that Suzuki delayed the launch of the e-Access by a few months due to the installation of charging stations across its showrooms in key cities.

Suzuki e-Access has a ground clearance of 160 mm while the saddle height is pegged at 765 mm. Powered by a fixed lithium-ion battery pack of 3.07 kWh, it has a range of 95 km on a single charge. The electric scooter is compatible with fast-charging and takes merely 2 hours and 12 mins for a complete juice-up. The e-Access tips the weighing scale at 122 kg.
2. Yamaha RY01

The RY01 is likely to launch in the coming few weeks in the Indian market. Based on River Indie, it has been spotted testing on the roads near River’s factory in Bengaluru. Yamaha’s first electric scooter in India will share several cycle parts, mechanical components and battery pack with the Indie while having its own identity in terms of design. We can expect a range of nearly 100 km on a full charge as it is expected to be powered by River Indie’s 4 kWh battery.
3. New-Gen Bajaj Chetak
Recently, the new-gen Bajaj Chetak was captured on camera for the first time with heavy camouflage. However, despite being disguised, it gave away subtle hints of the things that one can expect. The spy images clearly showed a front disc brake, rear tyre hugger and hub-mounted electric motor at the rear wheel.

Though a few elements from the ongoing model have been retained in the form of silhouette, single-piece flat seat, rear grab rail and LED headlamp with DRLs. It is likely to continue with the 3 kWh and 3.5 kWh batteries of the existing version with the highest range of 150 km.
4. Ather EL
Ather Energy unveiled the EL platform at its annual Community Day earlier this year. The EL platform will spawn three new models in the form of a family scooter, a maxi scooter and a high-performance scooter.

The EL01 low-cost mass-market electric scooter is expected to launch in the second half of 2026 with features like Advanced Electronic Braking System (AEBS), 10000 km service interval, onboard charger and AtherStack 7.0 with voice commands. It will be locally developed at the brand’s all-new facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra.
