Ather EL Low-Cost Electric Scooter Unveiled – Details

Ather EL platform will spawn multiple electric scooter models with an onboard charger and Advanced Electronic Braking System (AEBS).

Ather Energy has unveiled the all-new EL platform for its next-gen electric scooters at the third edition of Community Day 2025. It will spawn multiple new models of various body types and sizes which include a family scooter, a maxi scooter and a high-performance scooter. The company also showcased the Ather EL01 concept which has been envisioned into a new low-cost mass-market electric scooter. Besides the Ather EL electric scooter, the Bengaluru-based EV startup also rolled out the AtherStack 7.0 with latest features.

Ather EL Concept boasts of a new chassis, powertrain, and fully redesigned electronics stack which has been designed on the basis of 26 Lakh kms of field data collected. This will enable the company to introduce new models across different consumer segments, use cases, and markets while being more cost-effective. Ather claims that the new EL platform enables 15 percent faster assembly due to reduced component count.

Ather EL01 electric scooter will have 2 times faster periodic services while taking the service interval to 10,000 km. It has also been equipped with advanced safety features including the Advanced Electronic Braking System (AEBS) which is said to have improved braking with lower stopping distance and almost negligible rear-wheel lockups.

The low-cost EL electric scooter is presented with an onboard charger with a motor controller in the form of the Ather Charge Drive Controller. This will accentuate convenience by eliminating the need of carrying a portable charger. The upcoming Ather EL low-cost electric scooter will use AtherStack 7.0 which introduces voice commands along with an array of modern features.

The low-cost EL electric scooter will be locally developed at the brand’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar factory in Maharashtra, which will begin operations by mid 2026. We can expect the EL based e-scooter to debut in the second half of 2026 in the Indian market with a sub Rs 1 lakh pricing.
