Ather will present its mass-market affordable EL scooter platform along with a host of new innovations tomorrow in Bengaluru.
Ather Energy will celebrate its Annual Community Day 2025 in Bengaluru tomorrow. The EV-only two-wheeler brand will unveil the EL low-cost electric scooter concept at the event alongside a host of other products. Ather EL electric scooter will be the company’s most affordable model till date with price below Rs 1 lakh as it will rival the recently launched TVS Orbiter, Bajaj Chetak 3001, Vida VX2 and Ola S1X. There is no specific timeline revealed by the company, but we expect Ather EL to go on sale in 2026 in the Indian market.
Ather Community Day theme for 2025 is “Technology that works like magic”. The company confirmed in the media invite that it will showcase ‘a new scooter platform, concept vehicles, next-gen fast chargers (Ather Grid) and the latest version of Ather Stack’. In addition, Ather Energy stated that a few surprises have been kept under the wraps.

Ather Energy is building a new manufacturing unit in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Maharashtra) which is likely to be functional by mid of 2026 and the new low-cost electric scooter based on the EL platform will be locally produced at this factory. As per the company CEO Tarun Mehta, Ather EL platform is extremely versatile, lower cost and highly scalable’, which makes us believe that it could spawn multiple new models.
Ather Energy has been making and selling high-speed family-centric electric scooters till now in the form of the Rizta and 450. So far, it has conspicuously stayed away from the entry-level e-scooter segment, priced below Rs 1 lakh, despite being one of the mainstream players in the e2w segment. However, with the debut of the EL concept, this is going to change as Ather will also have a presence in this mass-market segment.

Currently, the sub Rs 1 lakh electric scooter segment is flooded with models from various popular brands such as Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj and TVS. This section of e-scooters was created by Ola Electric with the launch of the S1X last year. Post that, we have seen many more models being launched in the form of TVS Orbiter, Bajaj Chetak 3001 and Hero Vida VX2.
Besides the new Ather EL scooter platform, the company will also reveal the next-gen fast chargers. For the unversed, the current-gen Grid fast chargers are capable of charging any Ather e-scooter at rate of 1.5 km per minute. It has been learnt that the new-gen Ather Grid chargers would charge any model of the company at double speeds than right now while also being quite compact in size than the ongoing units.
