Ather Energy will unveil the affordable EL concept electric scooter at its Annual Community Day on Aug 30 in the Indian market.
Ather Energy will showcase the new EL low-cost electric scooter at its Annual Community Day on Aug 30 in Bengaluru. The budget-friendly e-scooter, believed to be priced under Rs 1 lakh, will be built on an all-new EL platform. However, ahead of the official debut, Ather EL electric scooter has been teased on the company’s various social media handles. For the unversed, the EV brand is also readying its new production facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Maharashtra), which was earlier known as Aurangabad.
Tarun Mehta, CEO of Ather Energy, in a post on his micro-blogging platform X, earlier known as Twitter, wrote “Super excited to unveil our next generation scooter platform ‘EL’ in the upcoming Ather Community Day on 30th August. Building up on the decade long learnings from the 450 and Rizta platform, this one is extremely versatile, lower cost and highly scalable. And this time, we also have a concept on the platform to showcase!”

Hence, as per Mehta’s post, Ather EL concept is going to be not only rather versatile but also low cost and highly scalable. The EL platform will be showcased with a concept model, which is likely to enter production in 2026 with an expected launch timeline in the second half of the next year. Presently, Ather Energy retails Rizta and 450 range of electric scooters in the Indian market.
Both the Rizta and 450 e-scooters are priced above Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom) in the domestic market. Hence, the company doesn’t have presence in the mass-market segment below Rs 1 lakh unlike its rival brands such as Ola, Hero and Bajaj which have products like S1X, Vida VX2 and Chetak 3001, respectively. Though it is not confirmed yet, Ather EL electric scooter range will be developed at the new factory in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

The EL platform is expected to spawn a new range of entry-level and affordable electric scooters for the Bengaluru-based EV startup. The company has been retailing high-speed family scooters in the premium segment and has its own customer base. However, in order to expand its market share, Ather is rolling out the low-cost EL platform.
A few days back, Ather Energy had introduced BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service) modules for the Rizta and 450 range of scooters, which subsequently resulted in a massive price cut for both these models. While the Ather Rizta can be availed at upfront payment of just Rs 75,999 (ex-showroom) with BaaS programme, the 450 range starts at Rs 84,341 (ex-showroom) with the BaaS subscription.
