There will be at least two all-new motorcycles launching in the 400cc segment in the coming 2-3 months in the Indian market.

The middleweight (400cc) segment of motorcycles is selling like hot cakes in the Indian market due to some of the most exuberant models by key brands such as Royal Enfield, Triumph and Jawa-Yezdi. In the next 2-3 months (Sep-Nov), the 400cc segment will be joined by at least two new motorcycles in the domestic market. Hence, in this piece, we will talk in detail about the 2 upcoming 400cc bikes launching in India.

1. Hero-Harley 440cc Bike: Hero MotoCorp, during its quarterly investors call, confirmed that a new 440cc motorcycle, co-developed with Harley-Davidson, will be launched in the Indian market before the end of Sep 2025. Though the company has not released any official teaser of the upcoming 400cc Hero bike yet, it has created a strong buzz among the auto enthusiasts and media across the country.

It is not a secret anymore that Hero had silently discontinued the Mavrick 400 recently due to dismal sales performance. Hence, it is quite natural that the Jaipur-based two-wheeler brand will bring in a 440cc model to fill in its shoes. It could be a sportier street version, or a retro roadster or it might well be a light-weight cruiser – the rumourmill is abuzz with such assumptions.

Hero MotoCorp had showcased an updated version of the Mavrick 440 at the EICMA 2024. It could be entirely possible that the facelifted version with advanced tech and features could be launched to replace the phased out model. Sources close to the development indicate that Mavrick 440 Scrambler model could also go on sale in the coming months in India. As nothing is official yet, stay tuned to this page for more updates on the same.

2. Triumph Bonneville 400: Triumph recently expanded its 400cc portfolio in India by launching the fifth motorcycle in the form of the Thruxton 400. It already retails Speed 400, Scrambler 400 X, Speed T4 and Scrambler 400 XC. Now, it has been learnt that the British brand is readying two more 400cc models, and one of which will be the Bonneville 400 with a conventional design.

Sources claim that Triumph Bonneville 400 could break cover around the EICMA 2025 while going on sale in subsequent months in the Indian market. It could be a worthy rival to Royal Enfield Classic 350 while using the same 398cc liquid-cooled engine. So, a retro motorcycle in the 400cc segment is on the cards with signature Triumph elements.
