The Thruxton 400 cafe racer will be offered in multiple dual-tone colour options with an estimated starting price of Rs 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom).

Triumph India will launch the Thruxton 400 tomorrow in the domestic market. However, ahead of the official debut, the cafe racer motorcycle was spotted undisguised in yellow and silver dual-tone paint scheme as it was being unloaded from a truck. Being the fifth model in the British brand’s 400 line-up after the Speed 400, Scrambler 400X, Speed T4 and Scrambler 400 XC, the Thruxton 400 price is expected to be around Rs 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The bike will have no direct rival in the Indian market.

Based on the Speed 400, Triumph Thruxton 400 stands out due to its typical cafe racer styling with elements such as front fairing, bar-end mirrors and sporty rear cowl. The company has presented it with a neo-retro design and we expect multiple swanky dual-tone colour options. For reference, the Thruxton 400 was earlier spotted in a dual-tone red and silver paint scheme.

The front fascia flaunts a circular LED headlamp with integrated DRLs. The tail-lamp cluster is also new and the brand has given it a pretty simplistic look. Other notable design highlights include clip-on handlebar, longer fuel tank and split-seat setup. In all, the design takes a lot of inspiration from the Speed Triple 1200 RR.

The cycle parts and hardware has been carried over from the Speed 400 in the form of USD front suspension, rear mono-shock absorbers, 17-inch alloy wheels, front and rear disc brakes, dual-channel ABS and a semi-digital instrument console. The body-coloured rear seat cowl can be removed to install the pillion seat. The dealer dispatch of the Thruxton 400 has commenced and units have started arriving at the dealerships.

Triumph Thruxton 400 will be equipped with the same 398cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled powerplant which develops max power of 40 bhp and highest torque of 37.5 Nm with all the other 400 motorcycles in the company portfolio. These figures are likely to remain the same with the upcoming cafe racer motorcycle. The engine will be linked to a 6-speed gearbox.

Since there are limited cafe racer models on sale in India, the Thruxton 400 will have an uninterrupted run in the country. Its closest rival will be the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 which is priced in a range of Rs 3.19-3.45 lakh (ex-showroom).
