The upcoming Kinetic electric scooter design is hugely inspired by the 2-stroke Kinetic Honda (KiHo) DX which was sold during the 80-90s in India.
We earlier told you that Kinetic Green is working on an all-new electric scooter for the Indian market and the same was confirmed by the leaked design patent. Now, the upcoming Kinetic electric scooter has been spied testing for the first time in India. It is already in public domain that the e-scooter will be a modern reincarnation of the iconic 2-stroke Kinetic Honda (KiHo) DX scooter which ruled the market in the era of 80-90s. Though the exact launch date is not revealed as of now, we expect the Kinetic electric scooter to go on sale in the next couple of months ahead of the Diwali festive season in the country.
The spy-shots indicate that the company has revived the original KiHo DX scooter from the 90s as the mule captured on the camera gets the same bodywork and wheels. It flaunts the same boxy design and reminds people of the KiHo DX scooter of the yesteryear. In fact, the headlamp upfront has a boxy shape which used to be the main highlight of the 2-stroke DX scooter.

Though the test unit was heavily camouflaged, we can still see that the bodywork has been carried out in a red colour scheme. The seat too has red stitching which is likely to be carried over to the other paint shades of the scooter too. Kinetic could introduce the electric scooter in multiple dual-tone colourways apart from the single-tone shades.
Since the sighted unit doesn’t boast of any rough edges, nor there is any wiring or testing equipment attached, it is believed that the e-scooter is in the final stages of testing. It remains to be seen how Kinetic positions and presents it, in all likelihood, it is going to be a family centric, versatile and practical electric scooter.

The spy images confirm the inclusion of a hub-mounted electric motor, front disc brake, dual shock rear suspension setup and a centre stand. It is likely to ride on 12-inch wheels at both the ends. The presence of a hub-mounted e-motor suggests that the performance of the upcoming Kinetic electric scooter will be decent, perhaps equivalent to Bajaj Chetak and TVS iQube.
Kinetic has been immensely tightlipped about the upcoming e-scooter but we strongly believe that it will be launched at a price around Rs 1 lakh mark (ex-showroom). The company doesn’t have recognition in the high-speed electric scooter segment and due to rising competition and presence of multiple mainstream players in the segment, we expect Kinetic to price it aggressively.
