TVS RTS X Supermoto Design Patent Leaked – Details

TVS is readying a rival of the KTM 390 SMC R for the Indian market which will be based on the RTS X concept, reveals the leaked patent image.

TVS Motor Company is likely to launch the first supermoto bike in the sub-300cc segment in the Indian market. The Hosur-based two-wheeler brand recently filed the design patent for the RTS X supermoto, which has been leaked online. The company had unveiled the RTS X concept at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January and the trademarked image, leaked on the web, reveals minimal changes. The most peculiar feature of the supermoto remains the exhaust pipe which is positioned under the seat and right below the tail-lamp unit.

The patent image reveals that the production-ready TVS RTS X will get a square-shaped metal unit for the front brake’s master cylinder. However, the concept version was equipped with fancy looking remote reservoirs for the brake and clutch master cylinders. In addition, we can also notice a mirror mount on the left side.

Besides the aforementioned minor design updates, the RTS X supermoto is likely to remain the same as the concept model. It can be related to the first-gen Husqvarna motorcycles which were almost a carbon copy of the concept on which they were based. Some of the notable elements in the supermoto bike will include a short beak upfront, massive fuel tank, upright handlebar and rear mono-shock suspension.

The RTS X concept also had a rectangular shaped fully digital instrument cluster and it is likely to be retained in the production-spec version. Furthermore, the concept model presented at the 2025 Auto Expo had a keyless start through a red button on the fuel tank. It will be interesting to see whether this feature makes it to the production ready motorcycle.

It has been learnt that TVS could use 17-inch wheels at both ends with fat tyres. The frame could be suspended by fully adjustable USD front forks with long travel since it is a supermoto. Currently, there are no supermoto bikes available below the 500cc segment in the Indian market. Though KTM has dropped hints that the 390 SMC R could be launched at some stage in our country but there is no official word yet.

Mechanically, the RTS X will be powered by the all-new 299cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled RTX-D4 engine which was unveiled at the MotoSoul 2024 in December. This engine generates max power of 35 bhp and peak torque of 28.5 Nm while paired with a 6-speed gearbox. So, if at all the RTS X is launched in India, it will have no direct rivals and will be the first supermoto bike in the country under 500cc segment.
