KTM RC390 has been launched at a price of INR 2.05 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi! Contrary to what everyone had thought the bike does NOT carry a BIG difference in price over the Duke 390. Amidst all speculations, KTM turned out to be the wiser and the company knew that pricing the RC so close to the Duke would not hamper either’s sales as a naked’s fan would always buy the latter and ‘faired-bike’ lovers would go for the former.
While we have already told you about the bike’s specifications, we’ll now lay them point-wise for you (with reference to the Duke 390):
- Single-cylinder 373.2 cc water-cooled engine makes 43 bhp at 9,000 rpm and 35 Nm torque (same as the Duke’s 390)
- Six-speed gearbox with primary and secondary gear ratios being 30:80 and 15:45, respectively (no changes here too).
- Dry weight = 147 kg (against Duke’s 139 kg)
- Front WP Suspension Upside Down Forks but with 125 mm of suspension travel (Duke has 150 mm)
- No changes in the rear WP Monoshock that still comes with 150 mm travel
- Steering head angle is 66.5-degree (Duke has 65-degree)
- Wheelbase is 27 mm shorter than the Duke 390
- Seat height has increased by 20 mm to 820 mm now (Duke’s perch is 800 mm high)
- Ground clearance is a superb 178.5 mm (Duke makes do with 170 mm)
- Fuel tank capacity has become worse at 10 litres (Duke has an 11-litre tank)
- No changes in the braking department: 300 mm disc up front and 230 mm at the rear. ABS is standard, of course.
In terms of ‘additional features’ the RCs can only boast of twin headlights and LED DRLs (Day-time Running Lights). Oh yes, those integrated front turn indicators look super-cool too! The KTM RC 390 at — on-road in Delhi makes one laugh at the three lakh and four-lakh-rupee price tags of the Hyosung GT250R and the Kawasaki Ninja 300, respectively.
