5 New Electric Scooters to Launch Next Year in India – Yamaha to Bajaj

Here are the 5 new electric scooters by leading two-wheeler brands ready to hit the Indian roads in 2026

The electric scooter segment is witnessing a steady growth in the Indian market. Several mainstream brands such as TVS, Bajaj and Hero are retailing their all-electric models in the country. In addition, multiple electric-only startups such as Ola, Ather and Simple Energy are in the fray with their e-scooters. The customers have a wide range of electric scooters to choose across different segments and according to their budget. In this piece, we will talk in detail about the 5 new electric scooters launching next year in India.

1. Yamaha EC 06

Yamaha’s first electric scooter for the Indian market is likely to go on sale in the first quarter of 2026. Based on the River Indie, it was unveiled earlier this month at a media event in Mumbai. Yamaha EC 06 is powered by a 4 kWh battery pack which returns a range of 160 km on a single charge.

The top speed is rated at 90 kmph. Some of the notable features onboard the e-scooter are LED headlamp, front and rear disc brakes, 24.5L underseat storage capacity, Ride modes (Eco, Standard and Power), and LCD instrument cluster. Yamaha EC 06 will be developed at River’s factory in Karnataka.

2. New-Gen Bajaj Chetak

The new-gen Chetak was spied testing for the first time last month in Pune. Expected to launch by mid 2026, it will come with substantial cosmetic updates. The prominent visual changes are towards the rear profile in the form of a new LED tail lamp cluster and tyre hugger.

The spy images further showed a hub mounted electric motor at the rear wheel and front disc brake. The new-gen Chetak is likely to come with the same 3 kWh and 3.5 kWh battery pack options with a maximum range of 150 km.

3. Suzuki e-Access

Suzuki’s first-ever electric scooter for India, the e-Access, had its world premiere at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January. The company has revealed every minute detail of the e-scooter, except the price. The market launch has been postponed multiple times but we hear that it will finally go on sale by early 2026.

Some of the notable features in the e-Access include Overcharging Prevention Function, Multi-Function Starter Switch, Multi Ride Modes (Eco, Mode A and Mode B), Regenerative Braking and Reverse Mode. The 3 kWh battery pack offers a range of 95 km on a complete juice up.

4. Yamaha Aerox-E

Yamaha Aerox-E high-performance electric scooter was unveiled earlier this month in India. Since it is a premium model, needless to state, it gets a plethora of bells and whistles in the form of Single-channel ABS, Smart key system, Reverse mode, Boost mode, Multiple ride modes (Eco, Standard, and Power) and 5-inch coloured TFT screen with Y-connect mobile app connectivity.

The Aerox electric is powered by two removable battery packs of 3 kWh which can run it up to 106 km on a full charge. We expect Yamaha to launch the high-performance e-scooter by mid 2026 in India.

5. Ather EL01

Ather Energy will introduce a budget-friendly family scooter in the second half of 2026 in the Indian market. Based on the EL platform which was unveiled earlier this year at the brand’s Community Day event in Bengaluru, Ather EL01 will come loaded with an onboard charger and Advanced Electronic Braking System (AEBS).

Furthermore, it will have 2 times faster periodic services while taking the service interval to 10,000 km. The inclusion of an on-board charger will eliminate the requirement of carrying the portable charger. Ather EL01 will be locally developed at the brand’s new factory in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra.
