5 New Electric Scooters Launching Later This Year in India

The electric two-wheeler market will witness the launch of several new models in the coming 8-9 months from leading auto brands

The electric scooter segment is expanding rapidly in the Indian market with multiple new players ready to enter the fray. The scooters account for nearly 95 percent of the sales in the electric two-wheeler category in India. Hence, despite the presence of several legacy brands such as Bajaj, TVS and Hero, more companies are ready with their new models, slated to go on sale in 2026. Therefore, in this piece, we will talk in detail about the 5 new electric scooters launching later this year in India.

1. Vinfast Electric Scooter

The Vietnamese pure EV brand will start retailing electric scooters in the Indian market from Q2 2026. Though it is not yet official which models will be introduced in India. The company will locally manufacture the e-scooters at its factory in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. Vinfast has already earmarked an investment of $2 billion (around Rs 16,000 crore) for the same.

Presently, it has 24 sales and service touchpoints in major cities across India. Some of the popular Vinfast electric scooters on sale in other Asian markets are Feliz, Klara, and Vero X.

3. New Honda Electric Scooter

Honda started its EV journey in India last year with the launch of two new models namely Activa e: and QC1. However, both these e-scooters were discarded by the public and eventually the company had to stop production. Hence, in an attempt to learn from its mistakes, the Japanese brand is working on a new electric scooter for the Indian market, which will be locally developed to suit the taste of buyers in the country.

Honda Activa e:

Honda Activa e: had a lot of shortcomings and hence it didn’t connect with the Indian people. First and foremost, it didn’t come with home charging option and the owners had to solely rely on the brand’s battery swapping stations. In addition, the boot capacity was negligible in the Activa e: as it was occupied by the twin battery pack. Hence, Honda is likely to eliminate both these issues in the upcoming electric scooter, which will break cover by the end of 2026.

4. New Simple Energy Scooter

Simple Energy will launch a new family e-scooter to compete with Ather Rizta in the Indian market. The design patent for the upcoming Simple family scooter was filed in Oct 2025. The patent images reveal the exterior highlights of the scooter which include LED headlamp, flat floorboard, long single-piece seat and a pillion backrest.

It is likely to share the 3.7 kWh fixed battery pack with Simple One, which returns a range of 180 km.

5. New Ampere Electric Scooter

Greaves Electric Mobility (GEM) will launch a new Ampere electric scooter in India later this year.
