The electric scooter segment segment will witness the launch of multiple new models in the coming months from the leading auto brands
The electric scooter segment is gaining a lot of popularity among the buyers due to high petrol prices, E20 flex fuel controversy and improved charging infrastructure. The electric two-wheeler sales surpassed 1.93 lakh units in June 2026 with a YoY growth of 75 percent. The e2w market share reached in double-digits for the first time in the overall sales of two-wheelers. Hence, more and more brands are launching new models in this segment. In this piece, we will talk in detail about the 4 upcoming electric scooters in India in the next 3-4 months.
1. Ather EL01
The upcoming mass-market electric scooter will be unveiled at the 2026 Ather Community Day in Bengaluru on Aug 29. Based on the EL platform, it is likely to be priced between Rs 1.05-1.15 lakh (ex-showroom) in our country. The all-new EL platform was showcased at the 2025 Ather Community Day along with the prototype of the EL01 low-cost electric scooter based on this platform.
In Dec 2025, Ather Energy filed the design patent for the EL01 electric scooter. As per the patent images, it will ride on 14-inch front and 12-inch rear alloy wheels. The EL01 will come with a swingarm-mounted electric motor. The electric scooter will boast of a big LED DRL and LED tail-lamp cluster. Ather EL01 will be the first company model to get the Advanced Electronic Braking System (AEBS) and an onboard charger, termed as Ather Charge Drive Controller.
2. Vinfast Viper
The Vietnamese brand filed the design patent of the Viper electric scooter last month in the Indian market, which is likely to be its first model in the two-wheeler segment in our country. It will be offered with five-spoke alloy wheels, 3 kW hub-mounted electric motor and 4.8 kWh battery pack. Vinfast will retail it as CKD (completely knocked down) unit in India with local assembly at the brand’s factory in Thoothukudi (Tuticorin), Tamil Nadu.
Vinfast Viper, being a premium electric scooter, comes equipped with 14-inch wheels. The maximum range for the Viper is pegged at 156 km. It is sold at a price tag of 45,500,000 VND in Vietnam which is nearly Rs 1.63 lakh in India. The maxi-styled electric scooter could be the brand’s flagship offering in India against Vida V2, Ola S1 Pro Plus, Ather 450 Apex, and TVS iQube ST.
3. Honda QC3
The QC3 electric scooter was recently unveiled with a slew of new scooters and motorcycles in India. It will be powered by a 3 kWh battery pack which will return an IDC range of 145 km on a full charge. The e-scooter will take nearly 2 hours and 40 mins for a 0-80 percent charge while a complete (100%) juice-up will consume 4 hours.
Some of the notable elements on-board Honda QC3 will be 32-litre under-seat storage, Smart Key, and a 5-inch TFT cluster with turn-by-turn navigation and Honda RoadSync. The official launch date has not been announced yet, but we expect Honda QC1 to go on sale within FY27 in India at an expected price between Rs 1.10-1.25 lakh (ex-showroom) to rival the likes of TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Ather 450, and Hero Vida V2.
4. Simple Arrive
Simple Energy, the Bengaluru-based EV startup, will introduce its first electric scooter on Sep 2, 2026 in the Indian market. Christened as ‘Arrive’, it will boast of a flat single-piece seat, front disc brake, dual-shock rear suspension, and centre stand. The electric scooter will also come with a TFT instrument console and small storage spaces in the front apron.
Simple family electric scooter was spotted testing earlier this year on the Indian roads. The spy images revealed that it will flaunt a conventional design as compared to the angular profile of One and OneS e-scooters. The battery pack and range details are still not available in public domain. For those asking, Simple Energy is the only brand in India to commercially manufacture heavy rare-earth-free electric motors.
