Presently, there are four motorcycles ranging from 100cc to 250cc engine displacements in India which can run on 85 percent ethanol blended fuel
The Indian Government is promoting green and renewable fuel technologies with ethanol-blended fuel at the forefront of this initiative. Currently, it has approved E20 fuel as standard form of petrol with 20 percent ethanol blending. Hence, several leading two-wheeler brands such as Hero, Yamaha and Suzuki have started working on the flex fuel versions of their existing motorcycles. In this piece, we will talk in detail about the multiple flex fuel E85 petrol ready bikes presently on sale in the Indian market.
1. Hero Splendor+ Flex Fuel
Launched by Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road, Transport and Highways, and Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas on June 3, it is capable of running on flex fuel with ethanol content ranging from 20% (E20) to 85% (E85). Hero Splendor+ E85 will be available in Delhi and select regions of Maharashtra in July 2026, followed by nationwide rollout soon thereafter.

Priced at Rs 82,810 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the flex fuel model has been developed at the company’s state-of-the-art R&D hub, the Centre for Innovation and Technology (CIT) in Jaipur. The Splendor+ flex fuel gets refreshed graphics in dual-tone Black and Lime Yellow theme while the engine is equipped with a new fuel pump, secondary fuel filter and calibrated ECU map.
2. Yamaha FZ Flex Fuel
The Japanese brand introduced its first E85 compliant model in the form of the FZ Blue Flex at a sticker price of Rs 1.24 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) in the Indian market. It has been engineered to run on ethanol-blended fuels ranging from E20 to E85. Rolled out in Metallic Black colour scheme, Yamaha FZ Flex Fuel will be sold in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana and Tamil Nadu through the company’s select Blue Square dealerships.

The E85 compatible model is powered by the same 149cc air-cooled fuel-injected engine, which delivers top power of 11.5 bhp and peak torque of 12.8 Nm while paired to a 5-speed gearbox. The FZ Blue Flex can be booked at Yamaha’s official website at a token payment of Rs 2,000.
3. Hero HF Deluxe Flex Fuel
The HF Deluxe flex fuel was launched alongside the Splendor+ in June 2026 at Rs 72,792 (ex-showroom, Delhi), which makes it the most affordable E85 fuel compliant motorcycle in the Indian market. First showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in New Delhi, the bike runs on the same 97.2cc single-cylinder engine which produces max power of 8.5 bhp at 8,000 rpm and peak torque of 8.3 Nm at 6,000 rpm.

Some of the standout features include side stand engine cut-off, tubeless tyres and a new digi-analogue instrument cluster. Currently, the company is offering a flat cash discount of Rs 4,000 on the flex fuel version of the HF Deluxe in the country.
4. Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 Flex Fuel
Designed exclusively for the Indian market, Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 Flex Fuel was launched at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. Priced at Rs 2.17 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), it is equipped with a 250cc which can run on ethanol concentrations ranging upto 85 percent. The single-cylinder engine generates power output of 27.5 bhp at 9,300 rpm on E85 fuel and 26.8 bhp at 9,300 rpm on E20 fuel.

To accommodate ethanol-blended fuels ranging from E20-E85, the bike features upgraded components, including a modified injector, fuel pump, and fuel filter. It is available in two colour options namely Metallic Mat Black No. 2 + Metallic Mat Bordeaux Red and Metallic Mat Black No. 2.
