3 Upcoming 160cc Maxi-Scooters Launch Confirmed in 2026-27

In the coming months, we will witness the launch of at least three premium maxi-scooters from leading two-wheeler brands in the Indian market

The high-performance maxi-scooter segment is getting immense popularity in the Indian market. In the last fiscal, we witnessed the launch of Hero Xoom 160 and TVS Ntorq 160 in the domestic market as they joined Yamaha Aerox 155 in this segment. Now, we have learnt that multiple new maxi-scooters from key auto brands will be going on sale in future in India. Hence, in this piece, we will talk in detail about the 3 upcoming 160cc maxi-scooters confirmed to launch in 2026-27 in the local market.

1. Honda ADV160

Honda filed the design patent of the ADV160 last month in India. Now, it has been brought to our knowledge that it will launch within the next 6 months in our country. Honda ADV160 will be locally developed in India for domestic sales as well as exports. Riding on 14-inch front and 13-inch rear wheels, the maxi-scooter comes with telescopic front forks and dual-shock rear suspension.

The ADV160 tips the weighing scale at 133 kg, which makes it 7 kg heavier than the Aerox 155. However, the Xoom 160 remains the heaviest maxi-scooter in the segment with a kerb weight of 142 kg. It will be powered by a 157cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled petrol engine which generates top power of 16 bhp at 8,500 rpm and peak torque of 14.7 Nm at 6,500 rpm.

2. New TVS 160 Maxi-Scooter

Our friends at AutoCar India have reported that TVS is working on an all-new maxi-scooter which could be introduced by late 2027 in the Indian market. It will be equipped with a newly-developed 160cc liquid-cooled engine to take on the likes of Yamaha Aerox 155 and Hero Xoom 160. The maximum power output could be around 14-15 bhp.

Needless to mention, the new TVS 160cc maxi-scooter will be locally manufactured in India at the Hosur factory in Tamil Nadu while also being exported to several global markets, including Europe. TVS is likely to roll out the new premium scooter with connected features and advanced technology. It could borrow a few bells and whistles from the X electric scooter, which is quite a feature loaded offering.

3. Yamaha NMax 155

Despite having the Aerox 155 in its arsenal, Yamaha is ready to present yet another maxi-scooter in the Indian market in the form of the NMax 155 by late 2026. It comes with multiple premium features such as Ride Modes, Dual-channel ABS, 4.2-inch TFT display, Turn-by-turn Navigation, and all-LED lighting. The NMax 155 is presently sold in several Asian and European markets, including Singapore, Indonesia, and the UK.

This engine is capable of churning out top power of 14.8 bhp and peak torque of 14 Nm. It will be locally developed at Yamaha’s production facility in Chennai for a highly aggressive pricing. It has been on sale for more than a decade since it globally debuted in 2015.
