2027 Triumph Tiger 1200 Revealed With Radar-Based Rider Aids

The updated adventure tourer gets a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and new technology

Triumph Motorcycles has unveiled the updated Tiger 1200 with significant changes to its engine, chassis, suspension and electronics. The flagship adventure motorcycle now gets a new self-lowering suspension system and introduces front and rear radar-based rider assistance features.

The new Tiger 1200 is expected to go on sale in India from March 2027. The range will comprise the GT Pro and Rally Explorer variants, with prices to be announced closer to the opening of bookings.

The Tiger 1200 continues to use Triumph’s 1,160 cc, liquid-cooled, three-cylinder engine, now producing 158 PS at 9,250 rpm and 130 Nm at 6,750 rpm. This represents an increase of 8 PS over the outgoing model. Triumph has revised the cylinder head, pistons, valves and fuel injection system, alongside changes to the exhaust.

The first three gear ratios have also been revised to improve low-speed tractability. Updates to the crankshaft, balancer shaft, gearbox and shaft drive are intended to reduce mechanical harshness and make acceleration and deceleration smoother. The six-speed gearbox continues to feature Triumph Shift Assist for clutchless upshifts and downshifts.

One of the biggest changes is the introduction of Showa Eera HeightFlex semi-active suspension. The system automatically lowers the seat by 30mm as the motorcycle comes to a stop and restores the appropriate ride height as the rider moves off. The seat can be adjusted between 810 mm and 860 mm, while an optional low seat provides another 20 mm reduction. Combined with the automatic lowering function, the seat height can reach 790 mm when stationary.

The system also gets Centre Stand Assist, which temporarily increases suspension preload to make lifting the motorcycle onto its centre stand easier. Both variants use a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel combination, with 200 mm of suspension travel at either end. The GT Pro gets cast aluminium wheels, while the Rally Explorer uses spoked wheels for a more off-road-oriented setup.

The updated Tiger 1200 gets a 7-inch HD touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A cooled phone compartment with USB-C charging is integrated into the fuel tank, while the new adaptive LED projector headlamp adjusts illumination through corners. Front and rear Bosch radar sensors enable features including adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, emergency brake assist, blind-spot assistance and rear-distance warning. Group Ride Assist and Riding Distance Assist are also part of the new electronics package. The GT Pro offers seven riding modes, while the Rally Explorer gets eight, including Off-road Pro.

The GT Pro gets a 20-litre fuel tank and weighs 250 kg in wet conditions. The Rally Explorer has a larger 30-litre tank, additional engine protection and weighs 268kg. It also gets tyre-pressure monitoring and wider, higher-positioned handlebars. Both variants feature Brembo Stylema brakes and a 16,000 km service interval. Triumph will announce Indian prices closer to the commencement of bookings.
