2026 Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 Spied Testing – Report

The 2026 Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 will come with updates to front and rear suspension setup while equipped with advanced features.

Royal Enfield is readying an updated version of its flagship cruiser motorcycle, the Super Meteor 650, and the same has been spied on camera for the first time. Being the most expensive model in RE’s line-up, it was originally introduced in Jan 2023. The spy pics show the 2026 Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 equipped with a lot of testing equipment which indicates that it is still in the early stages of development and a potential launch could take place by mid 2026. The company’s most recent launch in India was the Hunter 350 facelift.

Going by the spy images, the test mule seems to be carrying an updated rear suspension. Just so you know, Royal Enfield takes customer feedback rather seriously and the Super Meteor 650 always had the issue of rear suspension being too stiff. Hence, it seems that the company is trying to resolve this issue by replacing the linear springs with more advanced units. The spy shots also reveal testing devices mounted on the USD front suspension, hinting that it could well be tweaked.

The test mule spotted overseas does not feature any sort of camouflage and we can clearly see the ‘650’ badge on the side panels. Thus, it entirely rules out the speculation that the company is testing a 750cc version of the cruiser motorcycle. Moreover, it boasts of a single-disc brake at front as opposed to the 750cc bikes which come with a dual-disc unit at front.

Upon closer look, we can also spot a makeshift instrument cluster in the bike, which in all likelihood is installed for testing purposes. The addition of a tripper dash with Google Maps and music functions would significantly accentuate the overall appeal of the 2026 Super Meteor 650 and justify its price which is between Rs 3.68-3.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

The subframe of the spied unit also has some testing equipment strapped on it in place of the pillion seat, which is a clear hint that Royal Enfield is reworking on the 648cc parallel-twin engine. This engine does duties to all the Royal Enfield 650cc bikes such as the Interceptor, Continental GT, Shotgun, Classic and Bear. It develops 46.3 bhp and 52.3 Nm in its present state.

Royal Enfield has kept the overall design of the cruiser the same and we do not notice any updates in the wheels, body panels and switchgear. The 2026 Super Meteor 650 is expected to be more expensive than the current model due to the updates in the suspension and engine. The price could start from Rs 3.80 lakh onwards for the base trim and go as high as Rs 4.15 lakh for the range-topping grade.
