The 2026 Chief Vintage pays tribute to the legendary Chief model from the post World War 2 era of 1940s
Indian Motorcycle, the US-based brand, has unveiled the 2026 Chief Vintage, which takes styling inspiration from the iconic Chief model from the 1940s. It pays homage to the original Chief motorcycle from the post World War 2 era. Reflecting the brand’s Never Finished spirit, it has been introduced to commemorate the 125th anniversary of Indian Motorcycle. Just so you know, the vintage Chief model’s was developed at production line in Springfield, Massachusetts. The 2026 Indian Chief Vintage could be launched in India in the coming months.
“The Indian Chief from the 1940s remains one of the most recognisable and celebrated motorcycles in American history. With its iconic V-Twin engine, valanced fenders, and unparalleled reliability, the Chief set a standard for performance and design that resonates today. It represents the spirit of Indian Motorcycle – bold, timeless, and always pushing forward,” said Ola Stenegärd, Design Director for Indian Motorcycle.
Some of the notable design elements in the 2026 Chief Vintage reminiscent of the original bike from the 1940s are sculpted lines, valanced front fender, narrow rear subframe, wire-spoke wheels, and vintage handlebars and solo seat. The Thunderstroke engine boasts of non-machined black cylinders with heads painted in silver colour and pushrod tubes.
The 2026 Chief Vintage gets three ride modes in the form of Tour, Standard, and Sport. It also comes packed with the 4-inch round touchscreen display which is powered by an all-new software to offer multiple advanced features such as turn-by-turn navigation, music via Ride Command system, and accept/reject incoming calls. The riders can also phone information, including recent calls, contacts, number pad and text message history.
At the heart, it has the 1890cc air-cooled Thunderstroke 116 V-Twin engine which develops peak torque of 156 Nm. The brand has also rolled out a curated selection of premium accessories with the bike which includes Front Highway Bars, Highway Bar Lower Closeouts, 450 mm Quick Release Low Windshield, and weather-resistant Vinyl Saddlebags.
Furthermore, the owners can pair the classic solo seat with a matching passenger seat and touring backrest pad. In addition, select premium handle grips are available as well alongside the rider floorboard.
