The bike is making a comeback in the Indian market after a gap of more than 6 years as it was discontinued in 2020
The 2026 Bajaj Avenger 220 Street has been silently launched at a sticker price of Rs 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) in the Indian market. It is slightly expensive than the 220 Cruise which is priced at Rs 1.29 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) in our country. The 2026 Avenger 220 Street has been presented in a blacked-out finish with tubeless tyres as standard. The bike is making a comeback in the domestic market after a gap of more than 6 years as it was discontinued in 2020. Recently, the Avenger 160 Street was also phased out in India, signalling the end of road for the Avenger’s highly popular 160 platform.
Based on the same platform as the 220 Cruise, it shares the 220cc single-cyliner oil-cooled engine with the 220 Cruise with identical power and torque figures of 18.8 bhp at 8500 rpm and 17.5 Nm at 7000 rpm, respectively. The engine is paired to a 5-speed gearbox. The Avenger 160, which has been discontinued, used to come with a 160.4cc single-cylinder engine which produced top power of 14.8 bhp and highest torque of 13.7 Nm.
Unlike the spoke-wheel tubed tyre setup offered with the 220 Cruise, it rides on 17-inch front and 15-inch rear alloy wheels with tubeless tyres. However, the front and rear tyre size remains the same at 90/90-section and 90/130-section, respectively. The headlamp is also unique as the Street flaunts a horizontal DRL at the bottom. The saddle height is pegged at 737 mm which is quite decent for newer rides.

The 2026 Avenger 220 Street boasts of flatter and lower handlebars as compared to the Cruise 220. However, the footpeg positioning is similar in both the motorcycles of the Avenger family. While the 220 Cruise features a taller windscreen, the 220 Street has a relatively lower wind deflector. The bike tips the weighing scale at 160 kg (kerb).
It is rolled out in two colour options namely Ebony Black and Cocktail Wine Red. The suspension duties are performed by telescopic front forks and dual-shock rear absorbers with 5-step adjustability. The stopping power is supplied by 280 mm front disc brake and 130 mm rear drum unit. The braking system is assisted by a single-channel ABS.

The 2026 Avenger 220 Street has a ground clearance of 169 mm. It comes with a fuel tank capacity of 13 litres, which is even lesser than Pulsar 125 which comes with a 15 litres fuel capacity. Bajaj Avenger 220 Street is positioned above the 220 Cruise in Bajaj’s 220 portfolio due to the slightly higher price.
