The 2025 KTM 390 SMC R is under consideration for a launch in the Indian market and currently customer response is being gauged
KTM India has already started taking bookings for the 2025 KTM 390 Adventure S and 2025 KTM 390 Enduro R at a token payment of Rs 1999/- in the country. Unveiled at the EICMA 2024 in Italy last month, both the bikes will go on sale shortly in India with a price announcement soon. Recently, the 2025 KTM 390 SMC R was spotted testing on Indian roads for the first time by auto journalist Rohit Paradkar. The supermoto bike also had its world premiere at the Milan Motor Show last month alongside the 390 Adventure S and Enduro R.
The spy images show that the test mule is identical to the 2025 390 SMC R displayed at the EICMA 2024. It rides on 17-inch wire-spoke wheels and similar to the Enduro R and Adventure S, it could be offered with tubeless spoke wheels. The Austria-based motorcycle brand is in no hurry to launch the supermoto in the Indian market as it is presently evaluating the customer response.
While the 2025 KTM 390 Adventure S and Enduro R price will be announced in the next few days, the 2025 KTM 390 SMC R is expected to launch in the second quarter of next year in our country. If launched at all in India, it would be the first supermoto model in the sub-500cc segment and positioned between the 390 Duke and 390 Adventure S.
Based on the 390 Adventure S, the 2025 KTM 390 SMC R houses a 399cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine with a 6-speed transmission. This powertrain belts out top power of 45.3 bhp and peak torque of 39 Nm with the 390 Duke. However, KTM is expected to set a different drive ratio for the Supermoto bike. The technical specs of the India-spec model are kept under wraps.
The 2025 390 SMC R will boast of long travel suspension setup as standard. For those asking, supermoto motorcycles are quite versatile in nature as they are equipped to conquer regular road tarmac, dirt track with obstacles and flat track. All the aforementioned tracks are a part of the unique supermoto format and hence such motorcycles are developed to perform equally well on all three tracks.
2025 KTM 390 SMC R price in India could start from Rs 3.30 lakh (ex-showroom), which could make it the most affordable supermoto motorcycle in the country. Stay tuned for more updates on the same.
