2025 Honda CB650R, CBR650R E-Clutch Launched in India

Unveiled at the EICMA 2023, the E-Clutch tech allows smooth gearshifts without operating the clutch lever and therefore reducing rider fatigue.

Honda 2-Wheelers India has launched the 2025 CB650R and CBR650R at price points of Rs 9.60 lakh and Rs 10.40 lakh (Both ex-showroom, Delhi), respectively, in the domestic market. The duo debuts Honda’s E-Clutch technology in India as bookings for both the motorcycles start from today at all BigWing showrooms with first deliveries promised by the last week of May 2025. The Japanese two-wheeler brand developed world’s first E-Clutch system nearly two years back while showcasing it at the EICMA 2023 in November.

The 2025 Honda CB650R, adorning Neo Sports Café design language, flaunts a round LED headlamp upfront. It also gets sculpted fuel tank and an exposed steel frame which accentuates the streetfighter appeal of the bike. The motorcycle will be available in two colour options namely Candy Chromosphere Red and Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic.

Talking about the 2025 Honda CBR650R, it is presented in a racetrack-inspired avatar with elements like sharp lines, aerodynamic fairing, and hunched-forward stance. It is offered in two paint schemes namely Grand Prix Red and Matt Gunpowder Black Metallic. The middleweight bike also packs Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) as standard feature.

Both the bikes boast of a 5-inch fully-colored TFT instrument console with Bluetooth Smartphone connectivity via Honda RoadSync app to access features like navigation, call alerts and message notifications. The suspension duties on both the motorcycles are carried by Showa-sourced 41mm SFF-BP inverted front forks and a rear mono-shock unit with preload adjustability. As for the braking, Honda has equipped it with twin disc units at front and a single disc at the rear, which work with a dual-channel ABS.

Mechanically, the motorcycles are powered by Honda’s 649cc 4-cylinder liquid-cooled petrol engine which develops top power of 94 bhp at 12,000 rpm and peak torque of 63 Nm at 9,500 rpm. The engine is linked to a 6-speed transmission with E-Clutch system which allows shifting of gears without the operation of clutch. It has automatic control over the clutch and hence reduces rider fatigue during slow moving thick traffic.

Commenting on this announcement, Mr. Yogesh Mathur, Director, Sales and Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, said, “We are excited to bring the new CB650R and CBR650R for our Indian riders, with the revolutionary E-Clutch technology. The standard variants of both these models were introduced earlier this year & they received a phenomenal response. With the introduction of the E-Clutch equipped variants, we believe this will further elevate the customer’s riding experience while strengthening Honda’s position in the premium motorcycle space.”
