2025 Bajaj Chetak Launch on December 20: What to Expect

The 2025 Bajaj Chetak has been touted as the ‘Best Chetak yet’ in the official teaser by the brand

Bajaj Auto is all set to launch the new Chetak electric scooter on December 20, 2024 in the Indian market. However, ahead of the official debut, the e-scooter has been spied near Bajaj’s production facility in Pune with by Anvay Sheolikar. It is speculated that the company could present a budget-friendly version of the Chetak EV in order to attract more buyers.

Currently, Bajaj Chetak electric is priced between Rs 96,000 – 1.29 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. In this piece, we will talk about the upcoming Chetak e-scooter and things that we can expect with it.

Low Price

Bajaj Chetak is the highest selling electric scooter in India in Dec 2024, claimed Rajiv Bajaj. Hence, it is highly possible that the Pune-based two-wheeler brand could launch an entry-level variant of the scooter to further increase its customer base. Bajaj is believed to have used a new low-cost platform with lightweight chassis for the upcoming e-scooter for cost-cutting purposes. Don’t be surprised if the new Bajaj Chetak price starts below Rs 90,000 (ex-showroom).

More Storage Space

The existing Bajaj Chetak EV owners always complained about limited underseat storage space due to the battery pack being placed there. However, with the new Chetak, it seems the brand has addressed this issue or at least the spy pics indicate so. The recent spy shots state that the new Chetak’s battery will be relocated at the floorboard area in order to free the space under the seat. Further, the glovebox behind the apron has gone for a toss in favour of two small cubicles which can be used to keep the phone and wallet.

Less Features

Since it is going to be an entry-level variant, Bajaj is expected to offer just the basic features in the e-scooter. The premium TFT has been replaced with a monochrome LCD instrument console. The keyless start/stop system seen with the ongoing Chetak EV will not be on offer and instead it will be available with a physical ignition key. In fact, the spy images show that alloy wheels and disc brakes have been axed in favour of steel wheels and drum units.

Range and Top Speed

The technical specs of the upcoming Bajaj Chetak EV are not in public domain. However, since it will be a basic version of the e-scooter, we expect the range to be around 80-90 km on a single charge. The top speed could fall between 50-60 kmph. It will directly rival the base variants of the Ola S1 series, Ather Rizta and TVS iQube in the Indian market.
