Aprilia’s 200PS Monster – New 2015 RSV4 RR

Racing has been at the heart of Aprilia, and drilling this point even deeper is their latest product showcase at the EICMA, the 2015 Aprilia RSV4 RR. One look at the bike and you will know why exactly they boast of 7 WSBK and in all 54 World Championships.

The bike uses a chassis which has been tuned for maximum performance at a race track. The new engine along with a lighter body weight and advanced aPRC, Race ABS Electronic Controls by Bosch (9MP), manages to reach a truly remarkable goal: perfection! (Well, almost). A redesigned front end with LED parking lights, new headlamps and restyled RVMs completes the design changes.

The 999.6 cc V4 liquid cooled DOHC engine produces 201.2 PS of maximum power at 13,000 rpm (welcome to the club 200 Aprilia) and 115 Nm of torque at 10,500 rpm. Overseeing the issue of traction is the aPRC system (Aprilia Performance Ride Control), which includes Traction Control, Wheelie Control, Launch Control. All of these can be configured and deactivated independently. Transmission duties are overlooked by a 6 speed cassette type gearbox which gets Aprilia Quick Shift electronic system.

The aluminium dual beam chassis with pressed and cast sheet element, with adjustable engine height, Swingarm pin height and changeable headstock position and rake, allow for the brilliance in handling the company claims this motorcycle possesses. It even gets Rear Wheel lift-up Mitigation (RLM) so you can forget those unwanted stoppies, and if you do want them to impress those girls, you get the liberty to switch off the RLM as well.

A special ‘Race Pack’ gets the front suspension with 43 mm Öhlins Racing Fork while in the rear a fully adjustable Öhlins Racing monoshock with piggy-back. The normal ones though get a Sachs setup in the front as well as rear. The ‘Race Pack’ also gets forged aluminium wheels. It gets a 18.5 L fuel tank and has a dry weight, sans battery and fluids, of 180 kg. it is available in Bucine Grey and Black Ascari.

Aprilia will also be selling a special edition, limited only to 500 units, RSV4 RF which comes standard with the ‘Race Pack and dedicated graphics reading ‘Superpole’.
