In the coming 6 months, 2 all-new electric scooters will go on sale in the Indian market from leading brands such as Hero Vida and Ather Energy

The electric scooter segment is witnessing higher demand from the last year or so in the Indian market. The FY26 sales data indicates a gradual shift in the buyers preference with more affinity towards electric two-wheelers. Hence, the leading auto brands are leveraging this opportunity to roll out new models in the electric scooter category in our country. In this piece, we will talk in detail about the 2 upcoming affordable electric scooters launching in the next 6 months in the domestic market in India.

Ather EL01

Ather Energy will launch its most affordable electric scooter in the form of the EL01 in the Indian market. Likely to be priced between Rs 1.05-1.15 lakh (ex-showroom), it will be launched around Oct 2026 in the country. Ather EL01 will be locally produced at the brand’s new factory in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar in Maharashtra. The EL01 was recently spotted for the first time during its test runs on the roads in India.

Ather has stated that EL01 will come with reduced quantities of expensive commodities such as aluminium and copper, which will subsequently result in a lower pricing. The EL01 debuted in concept form at the annual community day in Aug 2025. In Dec 2025, the company filed the design patent for the upcoming affordable electric scooter and the patent images were identical to the concept model, except for the mirrors.
