Will Yamaha Roll Out Fazer 250cc?
Print This Post
Hey you! Don’t rush to your nearest Yamaha showroom. It’s only a Photoshop work of how the next Fazer 250 should look like. We all know that the current Fz 16 bike can be plonked with a bigger engine. The current Fz 16 chassis is underexploited to a large extent by putting a puny 150cc engine. It can cope the forces of a single cylinder 250cc engine with ease.
With the existing Fazer 250cc engine, I don’t think it’s a good idea for Yamaha to launch the vehicle because of the similar figures of Pulsar 220 (a little more for yammie though). Then Yamaha have to change the rear brake to disc for better stopping power. They have to change the existing Chinese toy look alike console of Fz 16 to a better one. They can otherwise take the console from R15. As it is touted as a semi tourer than outright street bike, they have to increase the wheel base. Now the Yamaha FZ 25 can hit the road.
The technical specification of the vehicle should be like this:
Price: Rs 1,49,000/-
Engine = 4 stroke DOHC
Transmission = 5 speed
Engine Capacity = 249.0 cc
Max Power: 25bhp @ 8500 rpm
Max Torque: 22.5926 NM / 2.30 kgm @ 6500 rpm
Compression: 10:1
Bore x Stroke: 74.0 x 58.0
Dry Weight: 150 kg
Tank Capacity: 14 liters
Fuel Injection
Battery: 12V 6AH
Electric Start
Front tyre: 100/80/17
Rear tyre: 140/70/17
Suspension Front: Telescopic Rear: monolink/monoshock
Brakes 282mm Disk up front 220mm Disc at rear
Fuel efficiency City: 25 Highway: 30
Performance 0-60kmph: 3 sec 0-100kmph: 10 sec. Top speed: 150 kmph
Ride safe, wear helmet.

its a good news for bike enthusiastic……
when it will launch????
it will give the other bikes a run for their money and more importantly, the performance…

@ Krish: Its only my idea. Yamaha might don’t even know.:P But rumors are around the corner for such a bike.Yamaha already have a single cylinder 250cc in the Brazilian market in the form of Fazer 250.But suitable modifications is to be done before the launch. If they are having any plans on a bigger FZ series, this will be the best possible way.Its simply a full faired version of the current Fazer-16 on our market.Yamaha supply such full faired kit in their international market for the fz series. So thumbs crossed and waiting for such a bike.

wow Nice…. but y its only 5 gear being a 250cc ?
Abiram Menon on February 7, 2010 at 8:09 pm
@ Athul : The Fz series is touted as a sports touring bike world wide.So if the bike comes with a better torque curve, there is no need for a 6 th gear to make things complicated.its debatable like what u said. But again there are only 5 gears on the current fazer 250 and adding an extra cog means a new gearbox. so no need to make the bike more expensive.the fz should not be a performance bike, but rather a sedate sports tourer like Karizma.

WAITING !!! LETS HOPE ITS TRUE!!!!

I suggest Yamaha put a more displacement engine like 180cc to the fz series and roll out fz 18. Let the power be boosted upto 17-18 PS. The mileage shall remain at 40-45 kmpl. The weight should be increased by around 5kg. With only the old age p 180 and apache rtr 180 for company the fz 18 is sure to make more sales.
Another idea is to fit the rear r15 wheel and a better tuned engine to the fz and roll out an economy friendly version of fz 16 and fz s. Due to its lower weight the fz sure has greater scope for a mileage like 55-60. Anyone please route my ideas to Yamaha.
BUT THE MOST URGENT AND NECESSARY MODIFICATION WOULD BE TO INCREASE THE BACK SEAT SIZE. Since the suspension is monoshock, the pillion will be comfortable as in the Unicorn.

Lolz
you have mention the top speed also..hope yamaha will look into your concern.

Haha, no 250 from Yamaha in the near future. All are rumors.
Abiram Menon on February 8, 2010 at 1:46 pm
@ Vineeth: Ur first idea is applicable, but they have to start it from scratch. coz they dont have a 180 cc engine at the moment and mileage wont stay there if its power is increased that much.it will be around 35-40 kmpl.
But friends, please grow up from the typical Indian market. Only we have bikes with every 20cc difference. If we dont change our attitude, India is not going to get bigger motorcycles. I Felt pity seeing Honda went all the way down and introduced a 110 cc bike starting with 150cc Unicorn. Yamaha is also introducing a new 100cc bike so is every other manufacturer. we already have good 100 cc bikes which can give 75kmpl+ .Buy a splendor, save ur money big time and go buy an SBk
Abiram Menon on February 8, 2010 at 1:49 pm
@ Anil: The current Fz is a dumb machine in the highway since it produce lots of torque way down the powerband. So we will be a little optimistic in the quoted speed
aka on February 8, 2010 at 1:49 pm
a 250cc bikes need 2 cylinders otherwise it wont be efficient in terms of power
Abiram Menon on February 8, 2010 at 8:03 pm
@ aka: check the reviews abt single cylinder 250cc bikes like Honda twister and Yamaha fazer 250. And after all we are not talking abt Yamaha R 25, in this case 2 cyl or more is a must.
UAL on February 8, 2010 at 9:16 pm
WITH POWER BOOSTED TO 17-18 PS how CAN IT MAINTAIN THE MILEAGE DUDE?????????????? GUESS U CANT HAVE BOTH !!!!
aka on February 8, 2010 at 10:35 pm
yamaha will not upgrade the fazer to 250 cc because then it will directly compete with yamaha’s own r15
dk on February 8, 2010 at 10:43 pm
why should they be going with only 5 gears???
i wont give a shit if it has 5
Abiram Menon on February 9, 2010 at 11:09 pm
@aka : its all rumors and if tvs launch the Apache 220, which is another one, then r15 will get spoiled big time. Even apache 180 is giving a hard time for it.already i am seeing a lot of people selling r 15 for buying karizma ZMR. and if priced at 1.5 lac, it is a solid rs 50,000/- difference with r 15.so it will sell easily and wont compete with r 15.
@dk : hey the only way for Yamaha to price it at 1.5 lac is simply putting the International Fazer 250 engine.that engine is coming only with a 5 speed gearbox and if they want to put another gear, they have to completely redesign the crank case. And if there is plenty of torque, there is no need of an extra gear

hey guys do not be fooled by this photo… this is he fake one
i have seen its real photo….it is a very simple bike, just like c.d dawn..
Abiram Menon on February 12, 2010 at 12:22 pm
@rahul sharma: hey its already stated in the very starting of this post that this is a photoshop rendering. We all know the original Fazer 250 is a cd dawn like bike. But no way, Yamaha will launch that vehicle with a decade old design. This is jus a noramal Fazer 160 with a side covering.
rahul sharma on February 13, 2010 at 6:03 pm
