Yamaha Organizes Riding Clinic For The Second Time in India

Riding on the success of the first session of the Yamaha Riding Clinic, India Yamaha Motor organized the second edition of the Riding Clinic in association with Yamaha Motor Co., Japan and Madras Motor Sports Club, between April 11th -14th, 2011. The event allows the best performers of Yamaha Riding Clinic as well as R15 One Make Race, which will take place during June-December, to represent India in the Yamaha ASEAN Cup race to be held later this year.

Yamaha specially invited Ex-Moto GP rider, Mr. Osamu Miyazaki, to conduct this clinic in India and share his experience with young enthusiast riders. The clinic was a four day affair for a batch of 60 riders and included theory and practical training sessions.

The clinic was conducted in two separate sessions – the Novice section and the Expert section. The first day was kept for training the novice riders and the second day witnessed a racing competition amongst them. In novice category, Nitesh Kamboj clinched the first position; Mohammad Ikram grabbed the second position while Nakul Ilawe took the third place in the podium.

Likewise, the expert riders also had their share of training in the first day. The biking race was held on the second day and the winners in the expert category were Jagan, Shyam Shankar and Navin who came first, second and third respectively.

The riders were trained on Basic Bike Check Up, Daytona Racing Kit parts, Correct Riding Posture, the Right Racing Line, Braking, Cornering, etc in detail. The clinic helped them gain good knowledge about proper riding techniques and improve their riding skills.

The event was open for Indian riders and riders from neighboring countries including (Nepal, Sri Lanka). The idea behind conducting such riding events is to identify and nurture talent in India that will represent India at the MotoGP races. Yamaha is the only brand in India who is offering its esteemed customers a chance to perform at the international level while they experience & enjoy the unmatched Yamaha motorcycle technology.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Jun Nakata, Director – Sales and Marketing, India Yamaha Motor said, “Yamaha has always been in the forefront in promoting motor sports along with safe riding skills. With such riding clinics and R15 One Make racing events, we are planning to take the Indian biking culture to a new echelon. Ever since its inception, the riding clinic has seen talent and we want to nurture this talent with more preparation & training and see them succeed on international racing platforms.”

Riding Clinic was aimed at providing true experience of Racing Instinct and Unmatched Performance to young biking enthusiasts. To make their experience more exciting, the YZF-R15s were modified with Daytona Racing Kit. The kit included Racing Exhaust system, Racing ECU (Engine Control Unit), High Lift Cam Shaft and Petal shaped large Disc. Yamaha had launched these racing kits in 2009 in India and these are available at Yamaha’s selected dealers across India.

The technology in YZF-R15 has percolated from R1 (Delta box frame/Fuel Injection/6-speed gearbox/ Styling/ Liquid Cooled 4V engine). Just like R1, it is light weight, has power on demand, besides having centralized mass, stopping power, aerodynamics, ergonomics and stability/rigidity. It also has the controllability and manoeuvrability to maximize riding/ cornering/ braking performance.
