Yamaha to Launch FZ1 in December (Specifications Inside!)

Good news for Indian bike enthusiasts. According to Economic Times news India Yamaha Motors is planning to launch Yamaha FZ1 in India. This is the third super sports bike from Yamaha after R1 and MT-01 in India. India Yamaha Motors will launch this bike in December month this year with expected price between Rs. 8 to 9 Lakhs.

People close to development said “The bike is priced cheaper than the Honda CB1000R, which is the cheapest imported superbike currently sold. The bike will be imported as CBU from Australia or Japan”. The company is also considering SKU route (Semi-knocked down route) for the FZ1 which will help to reduce price as CBU route attracts 110% import duty in India.

Yamaha FZ1 engine is equipped with 998cc liquid-cooled inline 4-cylinder; DOHC, 20 valves (5 valves per cylinder). With this configuration the bike is directly compete with Honda CBR1000R. In international market the bike is competing with Suzuki Bandit and Kawasaki Z1000S.

Yamaha India is planning to sell over 80-100 super bike in Indian Super bike market According to Yamaha officials this kind of product has iconic value and they are sold on that basis only beside this they also enhance company’s other product value. A senior official from India Yamaha said There will be fierce competition in coming time, so we are gearing up for that. the company is following top to bottom strategy to connect to the youth.

It seems that every month we will have a new sports bike launch. Recently Triumph motorcycle and BMW Motorrad confirmed India entry. Beside this Bajaj Auto is also planning to launch a bigger Ninja, before this financial year end.
