Vespa to Launch New Scooter Around Diwali: Vespa Elegante

Vespa, the Italian scooter brand by Piaggio, makers of premium scooters are planning to launch their fourth scooter in India called the Vespa Elegante around Diwali. The Vespa series in India includes Vespa LX 125, Vespa VX 125 and Vespa S.

The new scooter, is based on the Vespa VX 125 and according to a report published on Zigwheels.com it will draw inspiration from the international best seller Vespa Primavera. A small triangular front grille with rounded head lamps, retro styled split seats, with modernity creeping in in the form of tubeless tires and front disc brakes.

Powering the engine will be the same 125cc mill which does duty on the rest of the line-up, churning out 10PS of maximum power and a similar torque output of 10.6Nm.

The report further iterates that this classic Italian will be launched around September to grow on the massive festival rush. Vespa has recently launched the limited edition Vespa Esclusivo in India which comes with new graphics and a higher price tag.

This is Piaggio’s third attempt to make the brand Vespa sell, first with Bajaj Auto in the 60s and LML in the 80s and the 90s. The company management has interestingly decided to go solo this time and is doing pretty decently, adding a new flavor to the tons of gearless automatic scooters available in the country.
