United Motorcycles Launch Delayed; NOT Coming This Year

According to the official press release that the American motorcycle manufacturer United Motorcycles shared with us at the Auto Expo, the company was to announce their Indian partner towards the middle of this year and start launching their Renegade series of bikes by October-November 2014 timeframe.

However, that is not happening! Along with their joint venture announcement with Lohia Auto of India, the company has also announced the delay in beginning their operations in our country. The news is that UM will NOT be launching their motorcycles in India this year.

And by what we have been told, expect a UM branded motorcycle to come to our shores sometime by the second quarter of next year which means we are looking at a time period of July to September 2015, which is about 1 year from now and is subject to everything going as per plan…

United Motorcycles was scheduled to launch their Renegade Commando and Duty bikes in India and they had gone to the extent of announcing the expected price ranges for these models which were quoted as Rs 80,000 to about 1.25 Lakhs. The Renegade Commando was the star attraction in the lineup and a lot of cruiser fans had ditched their plans to buy the Avenger to have a look at the Commando before taking a decision.

And, if you are one among them, let us dishearten you a wee bit by informing you that UM Motorcycles may not launch any motorcycle from their current lineup and the good news is that they are working on an India-specific model, details of which we are sharing in another post…
