TVS brand has become quite popular during the last couple of years and obviously the company wanted to leverage on the popularity ride. Almost 75% of the company’s bike sales come from the star brand. Yet another star that’s born recently is the TVS Star Sports that comes in 2 versions. The base version Sport comes in two colors; Carbon black and jet red, and alloy wheels. The deluxe version comes with fuel gauge and double-toned sporty chrome graphics in about 3 colors; black, blue and silver.
If you want me to review the performance of TVS Star, let me tell you that the Sport bike comes with 99.7cc engine and it gives a peak power of 7.5bhp. Similar to its older brother Star City the Sport comes with one down-tubed chassis and a four-speed gearbox. The suspension has the same looks as that of the Star City, but the rear one comes with 5 steps adjustable stroke that is just a little longer than the Start City. Sport comes with alloy wheels and what makes it different from City is that a new face-lifted silencer (a matte silencer and a chrome heat shield with dual pod cluster). I did review the other indicators of Star Sport and they come as usual with dome headlamp as well as 5 pilot lamps. (TVS reviews this feature to be one of the first in this segment).
Body panels and tail lamps received some tweaking to give sleeker and elegant appearance overall from rear. The fuel tank is sleek and the dual toned side panel makes it attractive. The vibration is still an issue that TVS may have to deal with seriously in the coming days to give any serious competition to the big names in the market.
So said, Star Sport basically is an economy bike targeted at the middle class masses. The price for either of the versions fall below the 40k mark. Additionally, TVS is offering a 5-year warranty on some parts of the bike. If you ask me a two-word verdict on my review, I would say that the TVS Star Sport is a style and sensible bike worth all money for the first-time bike buyers.

I have purchased the bike last month performance of the bike is nice top speed is 85 kmph i reached 80kmph & i have she veered.the seat r nice but that arrangement is too low the tail lamp is nice doom is lightly difference from old sport NEW TVS STAR SPORT is like wonder ful bike in 100 cc segment b’coz it’s price is very very low I have purchase 38,500(tamil nadu)with all accesories
Hi.. its been 2yrs since i purchased this bike. its an ABSOLUTE PIECE OF BULLSHIT!!!!!! trust me guys… it literally makes u poorer by many thousands…. every time i left the bike for service.. the bill used to come up to 600+!! i had not even completed 23k on this bike and it already needed a clutch plate replacement!! mind u,im an experienced bike rider. i had bajaj boxer earlier.had rode more than 60k kilometeres,it NEVER faced any problems related to engine or clutch plate etc. and now… this screwed up bike.. came up with a new problem… the engine bearing is gone!! TVS service centre guys said, the moment they open the engine,they’ll charge me a minimum of 5k !!! so,i decided to sell this bike and im now going for HONDA SHINE… good bye TVS…
For Honda also you will face the same situation.
Because based on your comment,I feel that you handle your bike very rough hence believe me,you will also face same problem with Honda Shine also
I have TVS Victor GLX and 85000 kms running done in around 5 years and still it is performing good.Even now I can reach top speed of around 120 kph(Twice I did this to test my bike’s top speed and amazingly I have beaten Many bikes in top speed.Only Pulsar 220 and Apache RTR were able to beat me till date) and still the mileage is about 65 kmpl. I never drive my bike above 70 kph.
It is quite normal that clutch plates worn out in 15000 to 20000 kms if you drive at high speed for a longer time/press clutch for a longer time while changing gears hence Honda Shine will also will meet same fate based on your driving style.Boxer and Caliber were very good quality bikes hence you will not face such problems.But bikes of nowadays are very delicate.
It is my suggestion
Go for Activa/Suzuki Access because there is no problem of shifting gears hence clutch plates will last longer
And if you think yourself as a experienced biker then go for Bullet because Bullet will not give you clutch problems.

I am using TVS sport from past 1.5 years. Believe me, the looks are fantastic. But, the performance is really pathetic. Right from the second day of me purchasing the vehicle, I have experienced problem with starting, mileage.
I would not recommend any one to go for this bike just because of its low cost.

good value for money with stylish look,awesome fuel efficiency and good power delivery.seating position is low and uncomfortable for tall guys and gruff engine at high revs and somewhat odd looking but a good bike at such a pricepoint
i have this bike for the past 1 year and i purchased it for 33k in puducherry with all accesories.about the performance of this bike it is good and i get mileage of abt 75kmpl in city and 83-85 kmpl on highways.I was greatly impressed abt its stylish looks,low cost,mileage,weight of this bike which is low wen compared with other bikes and the reserve fuel indicator.the drawback of this bike is that u get a vibration sound above the speed of 85 kmph,sounds bad on gear shifts and other thing is that dont leave the bike without using it for a week because i once faced a problem with the clogging of petrol in the engine which would have costed me Rs300 for service but it had not costed me since i had free service for a year.

Hi, I bought the Star sport bike last month 22/10/2009, and has the first service done. I bought this bike because i don’t want to go for splendor which everybody owns.
I have completed 400kms and i dont face any problem with this,till now i dont face any problem with the bike and i think it is good value for maony.

TVS star sport is amazing according to me….The people who talk bullshit abt this bike are those who just don’t care abt average & value for money, people who don’t know how to maintain their own bike they just know to ride and throw it…. Hi, I purchased ma sports in M/o. of Apr’07 ma first bike. I got it fully loaded @ 36,250/- Chandigarh. It’s really good bike, Stylish & Economical, really value for Money. I have crossed 62k Kms and still it is giving 65 KMPL @ 60km/hr.
Now m facing bit problem a engine is making sound but no regrets, i have fully cashed it.
Any middle class person who value for Money can go for it without any fear….

Buy Passion pro. No Vibrations even when i cross 90+kmph. Actual top speed is 85kmph. Mileage anywhere between 55-63kmpl. Strong, stable, heavy, Very comfortable with wide seats and you won’t regret buying it. Maintenance is for mineral oil change it for every 1500kms for semi synt change it for every 1.5-2k. Take it to a well known roadside mechanic don’t go for free service, service charge will likely be oil 300+, service charge 200-250 for each service. I usually service it at 4000kms and change oil as my wish (1000k, 1200 etc) and the performance is average with good pickup. In slow speed it will give you trouble so better ride it in solo all the time.

dont support for splendor plus & shine damit. in splendor 100c but avg mileage is 60-65kmpl. but sport ,platina giving above 70kmpl . think guys.. Also splendor is getting skid while riding in NH.
TVS Sport is smart look. Better you choose Black with Red Color. It gives 70 kmpl. Head light is Well. My Friend bought this bike and usage is good and easy. Comfortable to ride in city. Only Electric Start is missing. Others are Nice. Its Price is 40784 INR.
Karizma ZMR from Hero Honda is total damage. Don’t waste your money in that bike. Better you choose another. Its my best advice.

I bought her on april 02,2010 and i’m much impressed with her performance. She gives me about 77 kmpl and very efficient in tackling the busy traffic in coimbatore. For all who look for an economical, good bike with decent pick-up and excellent mileage Sport is the best choice

Used MAX 100 R for 5 years, 50,000 KM.
Star Sports Dlx for 3 years 20,000 KM, but Spinal Cord damaged and geting acute Lower Back pain.
Since the Second Service I was complaining about the low comfort but they were telling that every bike will be different.

I bought my TVS Sport Es last week.It is a fantastic bike.I am getting 70-75 kmpl in Banglore city.Its style and compfort is awesome.Its a good value for money.None of the other bike will give this much mileage and peace of mind, as i am a pround owner of TVS Sport ES.
I want to buy TVS Star SPORTS bike i went to showroom and sell the Honda SHINE which was not gooooood bcz after (1200 km) i got machin problem and not giving me average also my frnds also buy SHINE bike they also not happy…….. but bcz of your commentS m going to buy TVS SPORT BIKE (TOP MODEL) …… BUT M VERY NERVOUS JUST FOR I WASTE 29000 BCZ OF HONDA SHINE………. I have purchased TVS Sport in April, 2011 at Pune. I am having very bad exprience with it. It gives problem of wobbling at less speed as well. The problem is more with double seat. Since first company service I am complaining about the problem & still it is not solved. Now front wheel is also started giving the problem. It gives jerks. May be problem of bearing.
Only good thing is that it gives good mileage.
But the Stability & Service is problem.

The problem with people is they rely too much on these so called service centers. Trust me i brought passion pro on Jan 2011 and i never went to a free service. A former Yamaha service boy and many plp warned me not to go for any Authorized or free service. Please find a good mechanic, ask your friends and relatives about it. These skilled roadside mechanics will solve your problem in no time.
