SCOOP: Bigger Renegade Commando with 350cc V-Twin Engine Launch by October

United Motorcycles has been waiting to pounce for a long time now. With everything set, its launch is slated in a couple of days from now and they are all set to go guns blazing. We got on a one-on-one interaction with Mr Rajeev Mishra, Director of UM India and AMEA region and got to know a lot about their plans, including their upcoming motorcycles/engines.

Powering their present crop of bikes will be a mono cylinder 279 cc water cooled mill, which has already been made official by the company. However, that’s just the beginning! UM has plans to launch a bigger twin cylinder 350 cc engine soon.

Mr Mishra, in fact, told us that they target to launch the new engine by as early as October this year. A V-twin mill is a typical characteristic of American cruisers and its presence in the line-up will definitely be a huge boost to the brand.

He revealed that the engine has already been developed and is currently undergoing testing. A bigger twin cylinder mill will allow them to play in a bigger arena and apart from the Aquila 300 (which is coming soon), nothing of that sort is available at the moment (in cruisers). To give you an idea, the present 279 cc single cylinder motor produces 25 bhp of maximum power at 21.8 Nm of peak torque (more details) and we expect real impressive figures from the twin.

Another revelation – The new V-twin mill will power the existing Renegade line-up including the Renegade Commando and will (hopefully) make it the most affordable cruiser in the segment with a twin cylinder engine! So, brace yourself up, UM is here to stay….
