“As far as the auto sector and specially motorcycles is concerned I personally think that things are fine. One can always hope for more growth, lower commodity prices, more benign interest rates. So, obviously that kind of a generic wishlist is true and valid for very year. Otherwise if I look back at this financial year I see double digit growth. I see very high profitability in fact both in terms of revenues and profits, this will be the best year ever for Bajaj.” Rajiv Bajaj commented on award ceremony.

CNBC-TV18 India Business Leader Awards was created with a vision to recognize the leaders who create and sustain entrepreneurial initiatives, develop best practices and carve out powerful businesses in the global economy. Over the years it has become the definitive event for India Inc. From chief executives of India’s biggest and best companies to young turks making a mark, to game changers in the regulatory set up. India Business Leader Awards has recognized them all.

It is to be noted that Bajaj Auto enjoys highest operating margin in the automobile industry. It operates on 20% operating margin which is more than 5-6% than industry average. This is because over a time period Rajiv Bajaj has transformed the company towards variable cost structure. The company has less than 5% of manufacturing cost as a fixed cost. The company also spends wisely on advertising and promotional expense. As Bajaj Auto is taking new initiatives in motorcycle and LCV (Light Commercial Vehicle) front, the upcoming years will outperform this year.
