Hero Sells More Than 1 Lakh Bikes and Scooters on ‘Dhanteras’ Day

The festive season with the spirit of lights owing to Dhanteras and Diwali is something for which all two-wheeler makers were eagerly waiting in order to boost their sales that they had lost in the initial few months of this year.

Hero MotoCorp had faced a back-foot in terms of its sales and had even managed to cut down on its production for the past 2 months in order to cut down on its inventory levels. However, Hero MotoCorp had committed that they’ll again grow up during this festive season. HMC had now reported that they had managed to retail more than a lakh of its products across the range which includes both bikes and scooters in just one day of Dhanteras.

The major chunk of the sale emerged from its flagship model – Splendor which has been the lifeline of the brand for a while. 40,000 units of Splendor alone was sold across the sub-continent contributing almost 40 per cent of the total sale.

Splendor had clocked over 1.8 lakh units in despatch sales in the month of October. The cumulative despatch sales of Splendor in the YTD period (April-October 2012) this year has already crossed 1.4 million (14 lakhs) units.

Passion, also supported the brand in clocking great sales figures for Hero MotoCorp. Passion clocked over 8,00,000 despatch sales in the YTD period (April – October 2012). The launch of the Passion X-Pro has added a flavor of festive season for HMC.

Commenting on the overwhelming response from customers this festive season, Mr. Anil Dua, Sr. Vice President (Marketing & Sales), Hero MotoCorp said, “With overwhelming demand for our range of models, we have sold over one lakh two-wheelers on Dhanteras. We expect this trend to persist, and are looking at posting record retail sales this festive season. Adding to this festive cheer is our brand new motorcycle – the Passion X Pro. Meanwhile, Splendor continues to consolidate its position as the world’s largest-selling motorcycle brand, with over 40,000 units in retail sales on Dhanteras day alone. Customers have been lapping up our strong brands such as Splendor and Passion as well as our new models like Maestro and Ignitor – thus handsomely driving our overall volumes.”
