India’s largest two wheeler manufacturer Hero Motocorp., announced pricing of its motorcycle Impulse, which was showcased in London on 9th August this year. The company today announced that it will sell its new motorcycle Impulse at a price of Rs. 66,800 Ex-showroom Delhi. This is the first new motorcycle launch by the company, after it’s break up with 26 year old partner Honda Motor Corporation of Japan. The company has already started dispatches and soon the motorcycle will be available in Tier 1 cities and Metros. The company has already started promotion activity for its new motorcycle Impulse in current India vs England cricket series. Hero Motocorp. will sell this motorcycle under the brand name of Hero.

Commenting on announcement of price Anil Dua, senior Vice-President (Marketing and Sales), Hero Motocorp said “The Impulse is the first bike from us which will be sold only under the Hero brand. We have already started dispatches and it will soon be available at showrooms in metros and Tier-I cities. As per our agreement with Honda, this bike is with the support of their technology and we are not selling it under the Hero Honda brand. Considering the dual purpose of the bike and the features it has, this comes at a slight premium compared to other normal 150-cc bikes.”

“We are not positioning this as a niche segment bike. We are targeting all the typical 150-cc bikers who have a desire to do off-road activities with their motorcycles. Initially, the company will target metros and Tier-I cities in the first phase and then gradually reach out other smaller cities and towns for the new model. “he added

The company currently gives this bike to the player, who is performing well with both, bat and ball in current India vs England cricket series. Commenting on this thing Dua said “We are not looking at this bike as a niche product, but trying to have an extensive market reach, the idea is to bring out the dual purpose of the bike.”

Hero Impulse is a motorcycle based upon Honda NXR Bros which Honda sells in Brazil. This is a dual purpose motorcycle which can be used for commuting and off road activity. The motorcycle has 150cc engine which generates maximum power of 13.8 bhp and maximum torque of 13.6 Nm. With approximate weight of 120 Kg this motorcycle has power to weight ratio of 115 bhp/tonne which is quite good.  The motorcycle also incorporates CDI (Capacity Discharge Ignition) which means the bike will not need to take power from battery for its operation.

Considering its pirce, this is going to become most expensive 150cc motorcycle from Hero Motocorp. Although, the company is positioning this motorcycle for a larger market, it will attract few buyers only, who are ready to pay premium for off road activity.
