DO NOT BUY ANY GPS, SAVE MONEY !

Me my friend bought Mapmyindia GPS but it is pure wastage of money. God knows how it tells the route. It keeps taking you the route it know, it cannot even re-calculate and find the new route. It re-calculates and takes you back to the route it know BUT does not look for route from the path that we have taken. I have taken this our of Delhi multiple times, the routes, the maps is pathetic…we both are planning to sell this away.. Guys believe me, save money. In India you are better off by finding the route the old Indian Style.

DO NOT BUY ANY GPS…WE BOUGHT MAPMYINDIA BECAUSE IT WAS OLD SO WE EXPECTED THAT THEIR MAPS & ROUTE WOULD BE THE BEST, BUT WHEN THEIR SERVICE IS LIKE THIS THEN YOU CAN IMAGE THE OTHER.

I have seen maps in Europe & USA, they are Far Far better than this…

At an exhibition in Pune I purchased a GPS device for Rs. 4000/- (four thousand only). I was going to buy a Mapmyindia device for 11K but I grabbed this piece. It is a Mediatek unit ( 5″ screen with all accessories ) with Windows CE and nDrive.com maps on 2Gb microSD card. The processor is extremely fast which I found very suprising. I don’t understand why other manufacturers charge 10K+.
Works fine athough the maps are of June 2009. Was able to navigate very well in Mumbai when using it for the first time.
A dedicated GPS is in my opinion better as compated to using a Mobile based GPS.

Dear Sir, I am using inbuilt feature of GPS and Map My India of Videocon V6200 mobile phone and it is working great with nearly all the features of GPS device available in the market. At 8800 price, I think it is better than a GPS device.

I have been using Nokia 5800 phone with free OVI maps. The map itself may not be great but it works fine.
I have a car holder for the phone and the navigation in cities is absolutely slick. Recently I went from Pune to Surat via Nashik. And the phone guided me through Nashik without a hitch. The phone costs 14000 with free GPS and car holder.

O yes and when doing GPS navigation in India, do not forget to use common sense. The GPS devices will ask you to take your cars in areas not fit for it. Avoid those roads and let the GPS device calculate a new route.

Can somebody help me in finding another alternate for mapmyindia; i am using mapmyindia and its hell lot of pain to start it…i reach half my destination by the time it starts… nothing works in it after starting..couple of times i dragged my car to the side just to make it activated.. finally found i am wasting lot of time… they advertised like hell and did not even bother to see whether the devices are working or not.
really erroneous device… mapmyindia get your devices correct before spending time in advertising… keep some money for digitizing the data.
