If you have been a fan of big bulky long cruisers, you will enjoy reading what’s coming your way. Apart from Harley’s thumpers, Brits Triumph’s long sluggers, we now have another American motorcycle manufacturer setting foot and its just a month away.
As has been in the news, Indian Motorcycles have confirmed their Indian launch date which happens to be 22nd January and the venue is Delhi.
Indian Motorcycles is expected to launch all the three ‘latest’ cruisers from the 2014 Chief family – Chief Classic, Chief Vintage and the most premium Chieftain. All these motorcycles are powered by the new improved 1819cc Thunder Stroke engine which develops 161 Nm of humongous torque.
Though it has not been made clear, but all pointers hint at the possibility of Indian Motorcycles coming in as CBUs (Completely Built Units) in the country and sold via exclusive dealerships that will be setup, across the major cities of India.
In the United States, Indian Chief Classic retails at Rs 11.85 Lakh, Vintage at 13 Lakhs and Chieftain at 14.35 Lakhs, after approximate conversion to Indian Rupees. Expect Indian prices to start somewhere around the 18 Lakh and breach the 20Lakh mark for the top of the line motorcycle comfortably.
Whatever they are, Indian Motorcycles do carry a lot of history behind them and ‘modern classic’ thumpers will be the buzz word Polaris, head company of Indian Motorcycles, will be harping on.
