Faired Gixxer (GSX150R) Rendered; Beware Competition!

Suzuki’s climb up the leader board in the premium 150 cc segment is being single-handedly steered by Gixxer, but it is soon set to get some company. A faired version of the Gixxer was spotted testing recently confirming that the usually-dormant company has another ace up its sleeve! For the month of November 2014, Gixxer blazed past the combined sales of four motorcycles from Hero MotoCorp in this 150cc segment and looks like they are now planning to take things up against their Japanese rivals, Yamaha.

One look at this vivid rendering by the folks at Motoblast will surely make you feel that Suzuki means business. If this speculative renderings of the new GSX150R (if it will be called so) is anything to go by, we are looking at not just a Fazer rival but a possible R15-CBR150R nemesis as well.

Even though this new Faired Gixxer seems set to be powered by the same 154.9 cc, there is a possibility that Suzuki may work on some internal bits to enhance its performance. Currently, Gixxer produces 14.8PS of power and 14Nm of torque from its SOHC air cooled engine.

Both the Yamaha siblings target different target audiences. One with a 13.1 PS motor for touring purposes and the other with a 17 PS engine centered as a performance oriented motorcycle. Suzuki seems to be searching for a platform exactly between the two, which also means that this new GSX150R may be cheaper than the R15 as well as CBR150R.

The engine in the Gixxer seems to be responsive enough to fight the likes of the Fazer, so even with the added weight of the fairing, the new motorcycle should be easily able to slug it out.

The perfectly well balanced engine of the Gixxer combined with its crisp gearbox makes it a great package, and the aerodynamic efficiency achieved thanks to the fairing will definitely make it a more poised motor at higher speeds.

Also if Suzuki does indeed shape it like this rendering, on the likes of the GSX-R 1000, the very motorcycle the Gixxer 155 traces its origins to, it is going to fireworks from Suzuki!
