I think the new Karizma ZMR would be perfect for u. Even though it doesn't has a mono-suspension. the twin gas charged shock at the rear perform an absolutely perfect job for u to notice the difference.

Your article very similarly reflects my own state of confusion. I too have a Calibre, and have found the RTR 180 as the closest replacement for it. But as you have said, the RTR 180 with a monocross, split seats, oil cooler and the smooth power delivery of fuel injection would be great.

Apache is a good choice. Why you have not considered the Fazer?

Hey dude, ur notes up there are awesome::
I wondered about the Sameer's comment(Very first) about FZ series..........He rejects YAMAHA, but recommending TVS..!!!
Wats that, i dnt know how he can........
TVS RTR 180 takes lead only in its power, pickup....
I agree with his comment about Fz's mileage.....but it gives 40kmpl(city) & 45kmpl(highway), i say this bcoz i own a FZS, i got no problems with my machine...
RTR180 starts vibrates a lot at highspeeds(above 60kmph), TVS Tyres will get wear soon & not much grip, it got hard seating position(particularly for taller dudes), less build quality & many
I suggest u to go FZS or FAZER, Trust on "YAMAHA"
            *******YES YAMAHA********

Excellent write-up there. Truly professional. Hmmm the RTR would any day stand out in performance in the entire segment. (Keeping the R15 in a separate premium segment that is :-P )

Agree with sameer.
Pulsar180 is a tried & tested machine which is fast, good looking & fuel efficient too.Being its rider for the past 3 months,i never felt as if i'm riding an old bike.Probably the same doesn't go with the pulsar150 though.Pulsar180 has its own charm.

Performance wise... Apache 180 leads the tribe like no other.. It has enough power to weight ratio to stand neck and neck in a drag race at least up until 120Km.h with the new Pulsar 220, the old Karizma and the RX 135's stand no chance in front of the Apache 180. The best, most awesome part of the machine is its roll on capabilities.. 50-100 times are simply awe inspiring for a 180cc. We have yet to see, a bike made by an Indian manufacturer that can beat what the Apache can achieve..
I firmly believe that it is the best value for money, the most reliable (i have owned an Apache for 3 years - NO COMPLAINTS), and the best braking of the entire choice of machines now available. They say in April, the Apache 220 is going to be out. Thats something Bajaj and Yamaha would be preparing for as you read this...
Just take an Apache 180 out for a ride and shift gears at 8000 RPM in each gear, then you'll get what I'm talking about..

First of all hats off for a wonderful writing. As an avid biker and an automobile engineer, i prefer u going for a reliable and simple products( not too much technologies). I very much prefer u the old trusty Karizma. It will give u 35-40 kmpl, but every ride will be special, and if ur budget permits go for the new ZMR. its a wise decision not to go for a pulsar product now. Rumors for next generation pulsar is on the corner. The Fz is a good bike, but it sucks on highway and pillion seat comfort and fuel efficiency for a 150cc bike is bad. R 15 is again a good choice but u have to ride it fast, not fast but very fast(above 7000 rpm) always to enjoy, otherwise ull be tired easily and it wont be a gud idea unless u r in a boy racer mood.So dont rave abt the performance, unless it is on track, R 15 sucks with the lack of low down power. I have seen pulsar 180 giving troubles to it everywhere else.I personally prefer Apache RTR 180 for VFM and the performance it offers. But the old Karizma makes a better choice. Its a legend now and i am using it for the past 6 years and not even a nut or bolt have loosened in the mean time and have travelled across south India many times. Still starts in the very first crank and i havnt changed anything in the bike other than tyres and battery once in the life span.
