Centuro Sells 73,000+ Units Till Now; Is Mahindra on Right Track?

There are two things that get clear here. You bring in a sub-par product you get drab responses, you bring in a nice value for money motorcycle and you get rewarded with real good sales.

We are talking about Pantero and Centuro, two motorcycles which basically share the same platform but are very different as packaged products. While Pantero has not really been well accepted, Centuro can easily be called as a hit!

According to a report by Autocar India, Centuro has registered confirmed domestic sales of at least 73,000+ units since its launch on 01st July 2013. This equates to around 15,000 units per month on an average. Total motorcycle sales of Mahindra stand at some 85,380 units from April to November 2013 which means Pantero has managed to sell only around 12,000 odd units till now which is a sad figure for Mahindra’s comeback bike.

In terms of upcoming Motorcycles from Mahindra, we have the 300cc Mojo which is being tested in Pune extensively and is an Auto Expo launch candidate. Apart from Mojo, unconfirmed reports suggest that Mahindra is also working on a 125cc as well as a 150cc motorcycle however, launch period of none of them can be ascertained right now.

Banking on Centuro’s success, Mahindra will pit these upcoming motorcycles against the established rivals in the country and time will tell how to people react to them. But what remains an accomplishment from Mahindra is that they have penetrated in one of the most difficult segment which is led by Hero for decades now.
