The Indian automobile industry is actually funnier than it sounds because there is new news every other day. Here now comes a news that if comes true could leave bike lovers (especially Yamaha followers) in the most subtle sense of excitement. According to one of the respected automobile magazine Autocar India, Yamaha India may bring down the cost of their ‘to be launched’ motorcycle i.e. 2011 Yamaha R15 by as much as Rs 10,000.

Autocar India in its February issue reported that Yamaha is reportedly planning to slice of Rs.10, 000 from the 2011 R15’s cost. But the real question comes to every other mind is; Why would Yamaha want to give such a huge discount? Well, to be precise there may be two reasons for this. First one, this might be yet another marketing strategy by Yamaha or the must have managed to reduce the cost of production because of the localization of their production units. Whatever may be the reason and we all hope it to be true.

The 2011 R15 will have wider rear tyre, split seats with a raised rear seat, new alloy pattern, new exhaust, rear wheel hugger and LED tail lamps. Yamaha must have thought that they will get enough competition from Honda’s CBR250R and thus launching a revamped version of R15 must help in maintaining the customer base. All we have to do is just wait and see if this news comes true.

Could this be the next 150cc from Suzuki? Will this Japanese head turner which actually plays a very silent game in India now launch this product in India?  We are not sure, but Suzuki might be launching this bike in Thailand in a few months to come. The engine and certain other components are expected to be lifted from the existing 150cc, GS150R which is already in the Indian market. It could also be tuned to produce more horsepower as we think. Therefore chances are high that Suzuki might bring this bike in India too.

If launched in India this bike will take the Bajaj Pulsar’s and the Yamaha Fz’s head on. The Suzuki GS150R is a high displacement sport commuter which people have been longing for a very long time now.

The bike will be equipped with disc brakes at both front and rear and is expected to have extraordinary styling as compared to the other 150’s in the market. The naked look complimented by the muscular tank adds a punch to the overall styling of the bike.

If  Suzuki manages to bring something similar to India then it will surely revive the popularity of the Suzuki brand in the country which has been doing very moderately. A mini GSXR is a recipe for success and gathering fan following! After all its just a speculation.

TVS motors, one of the decent bike producers, are bringing their new Rockz to India. One may see TVS rockz on Indian roads soon, as the company wishes to launch it as soon as possible. It was revealed that the bike had a dream run in Indonesia and now TVS is bringing to India.

TVS Rockz is not exactly a bike but a mid segment of moped and a motorcycle, that ways one may call it as a hybrid of the two. It is also somewhat weirdly looking bike with hap hazard shape and body.

Whatever it is, TVS has rolled over their eye balls over the Indian market and have decided to bring their Rockz to India.

The design of the bike may not appeal to most of the people because it looks like a moped and a motorcycle at the same time, this is what TVS failed. Overall, if you look at the bike it has got attractive color, body and variations. As far as features are concerned, Rockz has got a 125cc engine (pretty decent),4- stroke, SOHC and pretty much powerful.

Prior reports of the motorcycle cum moped reveal that, it can generate efficient power of 9.88 Bhp at 7500 rpm. Also, the bike can deliver a torque of 9Nm at 5500 rpm. TVS rockz has a maximum speed of 108 Km (pretty decent for a bike like this) and a five spoke alloy wheels. Also, the bike has wider tires that helps one maintain stability and balance (must for Indian roads). The bike comes with highly spacious under seat storage wherein you can store helmets and other stuff. The design is not much to talk about. To be precise the design looks odd and not so happening- definitely not muscular. It will probably come with a price tag of 60,000 INR.

Mahindra and Mahindra is all set to foray into motorcycle segment with the launch of its motorcycle Diablo. Currently it’s producing scooters Rodeo, Duro, Kine and Sym flyte. Mahindra Diablo will come with 300cc, 4 stroke liquid cooled engine, which will produce around 25bhp. The bike will have a six speed transmissions. It will also have inverted telescopic forks and disc brake at both front and rear.

The bike is more tuned for fuel efficiency than the power. It is expected to give 35 kilometer per liter in city ride condition which makes it fuel efficient bike in 300cc segment. Beside this it will have 18.5 liter fuel tank which makes it perfect for long distance journey.

The bike is specially designed for India and it will be the first 300cc sports bike produced by any Indian manufacturer. The bike is expected to retail at Rs.1,50,000 (Ex-showroom Delhi). Beside this Mahindra will also launch 125cc Cevalo. Mahindra has still not announced any particular date of launch.

Bajaj, one of the toughest and best two wheeler companies that enjoys much greater market shares with some good bikes that it has in its kitty. Bajaj’s Pulsar is one of the favorite bikes of the lot produced by the company. Over the years, the popularity of Bajaj as a preferred brand has grown leaps and bounce, thanks to the wonderful and muscular beast Pulsar. After the launch of Pulsar their sales almost doubled and this is now encouraging Bajaj to leap a step further. It is planning to raise its own bar by trying to manufacturing high end bikes. Don’t be surprised if you see any sort of an improvement in Pulsar.

As of now, Pulsar from Bajaj comes in four varied models ranging from 135cc to 220cc. Pulsar 220 is already amongst popular bikes and is highly successful in India. Bajaj may add another fifth model to the kitty ‘Pulsar 250cc’ but it is yet to be confirmed. The Bajaj group is all set to take the motorcycle competition higher and Pulsar 250 is its fight for the giants like Kawasaki and other global giants. The new Pulsar should be as powerful as the Kawasaki Ninja and will be almost half the price than that of Ninja.

Do not be shocked if you see a pulsar beyond your expectations, in a year or two. Bajaj wishes to produce bikes of greater efficiency, power, muscular looks without making it too costly; a source revealed. As of now, we can only wait for the new pulsar 250 to hit the Indian roads and the Indian market.

For many years the Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi, the only powerful fuel injected bike in India that time, enjoyed the cult status before it was abruptly stopped. In place, a new faster and more agile sibling made it to the streets, the Pulsar 220 DTSi with a carburetor and an ‘F’ type logo at the fairing. Though the ‘F’ story became clear when Bajaj launched the sports version of this same bike with a bikini fairing very recently, we remain skeptic about the possible reason of the exclusion of the fuel injector.

Though we can (and did) go gaga about the latest offering with a reduced price tag and all, but we have a different story to tell this time. One day we sat down to study the future prospects from this ripple-creator company and came out with a (possible) conclusion. According to our estimates Bajaj would/ might launch a big bike laden with fuel injection and as we say it, it would not be very far from now. Probability have it saying that it might be a 250cc engine which might be priced around (or less than) the 1.5 lakh mark so as to keep a considerable difference between this probable bike and the flagship Kawasaki Ninja 250R.

Anyhow, let us clear ourselves out, Bikeadvice does not believe in spreading rumors and this story could well be considered our brainchild (as of now)! If we get any concrete news we will keep you informed at the earliest possible.

Hey you! Don’t rush to your nearest Yamaha showroom. It’s only a Photoshop work of how the next Fazer 250 should look like.  We all know that the current Fz 16 bike can be plonked with a bigger engine. The current Fz 16 chassis is underexploited to a large extent by putting a puny 150cc engine. It can cope the forces of a single cylinder 250cc engine with ease.

With the existing Fazer 250cc engine, I don’t think it’s a good idea for Yamaha to launch the vehicle because of the similar figures of Pulsar 220 (a little more for yammie though). Then Yamaha have to change the rear brake to disc for better stopping power. They have to change the existing Chinese toy look alike console of Fz 16 to a better one. They can otherwise take the console from R15. As it is touted as a semi tourer than outright street bike, they have to increase the wheel base. Now the Yamaha FZ 25 can hit the road.

Performance enthusiasts all over the country already had some fulfilling launches in the past few months in the likes of Apache RTR 180, Pulsar 220 DTSi, Yamaha Fazer and it seems like they have something more to cheer about, this time from (the least expected) Honda stables. After nearly half a decade, their flagship model, Karizma is all set to burn the roads in a new avatar and this time it promises to be not just another sticker upgrade! Karizma has symbolized the epitome of performance in its heydays and remains one of the finest bikes in India, still. Serious bikers can still vouch for the sheer fun and pleasure it is, riding this bike.

Some call it street fighter; some call it a perfect tourer, but the fact remains that, Karizma still remains one of the most desired bikes in India even after so many years in the market. After having tested every inch of a Honda lover, with some very lame sticker (so-called) upgrades, Honda seems to be serious this time and it feels like all the wait was worth it and here we have one of the shortest of glimpses into a (expected) brand new world of motorcycling in India. Hero Honda is caught testing its brand new Karizma PGM Fi and here we come with the scoop of the much awaited bike for all these years.

Hold your breath, it doesn’t just look awesome, internals are also expected to be as fiery,

• More Power: The new bike is expected to produce more power and more torque from the same 223 cc engine that has been doing a wonderful duty for all these years.
• Revamped Front Fairing: As clearly depicted in the pics, the bike would be a full faired stunner (second in India after Yamaha R15) with stylish new clear white indicators and stylish and curvier headlamps.
• Mounted Rear View Mirrors: The Rear view mirrors would be mounted on the fairing, but sadly, they look so traditional.
• LED Tail Lamps: The bike would do away with the traditional bulbs system and would sport the much better and more efficient and upmarket LED Tail Lamps (probably similar to CBZ Extreme’s)
• Rear Disc Brakes: The bike would sport rear disc brakes for an even better braking of the bike.
• Gas Reservoir shock Absorbers: The bike would now sport a set of inverted Gas Reservoir shock absorbers straight from its smaller sibling, the Hunk which would make the bike an even better one for long rides.
• Liquid Cooling: The bike would (in all probability) have a liquid cooled engine for an even better cooling of the engine and to null the effect of the lack of air because of the full fairing.
• Fuel Injection: The bike would have the much touted and advanced PGM-Fi from Honda. PGM-Fi already does its job in smaller siblings of Karizma and it, sure would add to the overall character of the bike. Because of Fuel Injection, new Karizma is expected to have a bump in both power and mileage at the same time, along with a much better throttle response.
• New Sticker job: The bike gets a fresh new sticker work which works wonder to the overall looks of the bike.
• Split Grab Rails: The bike also gets a (rather non-matching) new set of split grab rails to enhance the ‘feel good’ factor of the bike.
• Clip-ons: The bike also gets a lovely set of clip-ons. As a result, the posture thus obtained is unmatched and perfect which could be called a mix of sporty and touring. Honda, for sure has sorted this out well.

Apart from these, the engine also appears to be painted golden and the bike could sport a silencer which currently does duty in Hunk (with internal tweaks). The tyres are expected to be the same 100 rear section MRF Zappers. And along with this the meter assembly is also expected to be revamped a bit. Ultimately, it feels so good to read all this, but who knows pricing could dampen our spirits. Pricing would be major criteria and we expect this bike to cross the 1 Lakh rupee mark with ease and could also probably be dearer than the Yamaha R15. We expect this bike to hit the showrooms before or around Diwali ie within 3 months all over India. Let’s see what does this bike has in offer for us, especially with some scintillating machines already winning enthusiasts’ hearts over for all these days. We have our fingers crossed!

One of the readers of BikeAdvice pointed out that Yamaha is going to launch YZF R125 just like the R15. I am not sure how far this is true, but for now, lets just put this in the speculation category. Any news from the readers about R125 is appreciated. Yamaha R125 is already selling in the European market and I feel that it is not difficult to bring the same to India, especially because Yamaha does not have a strong foot hold in the 125cc segment right now.
