Harley Davidson is probably one of the most preferred and best premium bike makers in the world. The two wheeler giant has got immense potential to showcase its strengths and build a smarter market for themselves. Recently Harley Davidson has released its 2012 models which includes one all new motorcycle and a 10th anniversary edition of Vanted V-Rod. Not only the introduction of new models was done but the company also announced that more models than ever will be sporting Twin Cam 103 Engine in 2012. Harley Davidson is a company that will continue to improvise its models so that they can bag both in terms of market share and the revenues. For the 2012 line up, Harley introduced some marvels. Let us now roll our eye balls on two key models and what the company has in store for the riders in 2012.

First up on the list of 2012 Harley bikes is Dyna Switchback. The 2012 Switchback is a powerful machine that is based on the lines of CEO Softail Convertible. The bike sports a fork mounted windshield and hard saddlebag pops off without the use of tools and it only takes a minute to convert.

As the name goes Switchback, the bike can be used both as touring motorcycle and a cruiser. The bike sports a powerful Twin cam 103 V-twin engine that gives the bike required power and control.

Next on the list of Harley’s 2012 roll out is the anniversary edition of the V-Rod. The V-Rod was first introduced by Harley in the year 2002 and it bought great success to the company. The V-Rod’s 60 degree revolutionary V twin was the first by Harley to sport overhead cam shafts and liquid cooling. Since the introduction back in 2002, the bike has gone through various variations like CVO V-Rod destroyer in 2007. The latest variation of the V-Rod uses a 1250cc engine that is capable of producing 125hp @ 8250 rpm. Another news regarding the 2012 Harley’s lineup is that the company will be using Twin Cam 103 engine in more models which is able to put out almost 100 lb-ft of torque.

In addition to the above mentioned roll outs, Harley also introduced upgraded version of the Night Rod that sports refreshed bodywork and optimized rider ergonomics. Also the company’s custom vehicles operation (CVO) has also rolled out a limited high performing touring machine i.e. the New CVO Road Glide Custom. All in all the company’s 2012 roll outs look impressive and the company will offer 32 models in 2012 however we only covered the most significant above.

Harley Davidson is one iconic bike maker that cannot be kept quiet for too long. The company has this amazing quality to diversify their product lines and use their brand name to utmost benefit. The ever successful cult bike maker recently introduced Pink Label Clothing line for Women. The aim behind introducing this unique clothing line for women is to encourage women bikers around the globe. The new line of clothes is especially for women who ride motorcycles.

With the introduction of this new line of clothing, Harley is also supporting the women with breast cancer. Out of the sales the company makes from this new pink clothing range, a part will be donated to US National Breast Cancer Association. I personally feel that the company has taken up decisions to support causes which will improve their brand value. Harley Davidson seems to be following a balanced approach as it takes care of its business and the society at the same time.

The Pink Label collection sports some funky and really cool clothing line for women that include leather jackets for women, pants, jumpers, neck warmers, gloves and various other things. The collection was designed by the company’s design team. Kathy Walen (category manager, general merchandise) said that the company was looking to create something new for women who have been suffering from breast cancer. She further said that the pink label collection represents the spirit of oneness and the company’s united support with the cause. All in all, the ace bike maker has added another feather in their cap by coming out with a way to support breast cancer. We definitely hope to see Harley Davidson support many of such causes in the near future. For now the only thing we can do is to praise them for supporting such a great cause.

Greetings! The world of two wheels is never on halt. Two wheeler segment is undoubtedly one of the most happening segments as far as the Indian automobile industry is concerned all thanks to manufacturers like Harley Davidson, RE and so on. This time too Harley Davidson is organizing the Harley Rock Riders 2011 in which they have partnered with Zippo. Those of you who don’t actually know about Zippo, let me inform you that Zippo is a very famous lighter brand in the U.S.A.

The partnership between the two brands is for the ever wonderful second season of the very famous Harley Rock Riders event that will bring out the best of both music and motorcycling worlds.

The event will be held across 4 cities and will finally come to an end with a grand finale. Zippo obviously have partnered iconic Harley Davidson to promote its brand. The motorcycle icon Harley has a historic association with music and thus one can expect the event to be a total fun. The event will be scheduled in four cities and will be concluded with a finale. The dates are

May 5 Splits and Half step down at Blue frog Mumbai

June 9 Thermal and a quarter, Split and Half step down at F bar NewDelhi

July 7 – Thermal And A Quarter and Half Step Down at Kyra, Bangalore

August 12 – Split and Half Step Down @ Bottles And Chimney, Hyderabad

Grand Finale October 1 – Half Step Down, The Circus, Split and Parikrama at Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delh

Commenting on the partnership the managing director of Zippo said that the event will showcase the brand’s connection with rock music and the spirit of oneness. He further said that the event matches the philosophies of both American iconic brands. Zippo seem to have been overwhelmed with this partnership as the brand is looking to partner Harley in their future projects too. On the contrary the managing director of Harley Davidson India also said that Harley Davidson’s culture is as unique as its motorcycles and the event rock riders is an attempt to bring motorcycling and rock music together by giving rock bands a chance of their lifetime to perform in the event. He further said that the event was inaugurated last year wherein Harley fans and rock music fans participated in large numbers and this time too the iconic Harley is expecting the same.

At last speaking on Zippo as a partner, Harley Davidson India’s managing director said that the company is delighted to have Zippo on board. Harley Rock Riders truly embodies the spirit of Harley-Davidson and it will continue to spread the spirit of rock music and oneness coupled with great motorcycling in the years to come.

Original Source: Harley Davidson Decides not to Hike Prices of their CKD Models from BikeAdvice.in

Here is some refreshing and good news for all the Harley Davidson fans. Harley Davidson, the cult bike maker from US, decides not to hike any prices on its CKD (completely knocked down) models assembled in India despite the increase in import duty. The bike maker said that they are evaluating the options in wake of new CKD norms that have resulted in higher import duty.

Mr. Anoop Prakash, Managing Director of Harley Davidson, said that the company is keen to deliver their promises to their dealers, consumers and bike lovers all across India and thus decided to not increase current prices on their two CKD models viz. Iron 883 and SuperLow for current calendar year. In December, the company had announced that the SuperLow and Iron 883 will be the first two models to be rolled out of the CKD assembly facility in Bawal in Haryana. The bikes are priced at Rs 5.5 lakh and Rs 6.50 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively.

Speaking further, Mr. Anoop Prakash said that the company is deciding on what strategy to follow next and in future. He said that the company will and always remain committed to Indian market and right now the company is deciding whether to go with the new CKD standards or manage the business with higher import duty. In the recent budget the finance minister gave a new definition to CKD import kits which excludes pre-assembled engine, gear box, transmission and chassis from its purview. The new definition resulted in an upward increase in customs duty to 60%; which later was revised to 30%.

Mr. Anoop finally said that the company respects government’s policies and is currently evaluating these policies. Overall the picture is pretty clear that Harley doesn’t wish to increase prices on its CKD models for this calendar year but next year one may find an increment. Whatever it may be but this news is really good news for all those who wish to buy Harley’s CKD models viz. Iron 883 and SuperLow in the current year.

Original Source: What? Harley-Davidson in India for 3.5 lakhs? from BikeAdvice.in

I’m indeed fortunate to make a write-up on this. This piece of write up, for sure is gonna set hardcore bikers in high spirits. The news is that the world’s premium motorcycle maker Harley-Davidson is most likely to open up an <del datetime="2011-02-27T10:27:52+00:00">manufacturing</del> assembly plant in India (Kudos!).

Harley-Davidson is said to have a plan for the past 4 months on opening an assembly plant in Bawal, Rewari district of Haryana, which is about 100 kms from the capital. This is the second plant of HD which is to be set outside the US. Brazil was the first country to host a Harley-Davidson assembly plant subsequently after US. The plant is expected to be built at around 70,000 sq.ft with an initial annual production of 200 motorcycles approximately.

The model that is finalized as of now for production in India is the ‘Harley-Davidson Sporster’. We do hope a few more to join this in the near future. Bikes would be brought to the Bawal plant as CKD (Completely Knocked Down) units from the American factory and would be assembled over here. The rest would be available as imported models in the same manner as available now. This unit would also enable the company to export their bikes to a few other markets as well.

This step would result in slashing the price by as much as 40-45%,(since they are not imported bikes anymore, thereby cutting the heavy import duties) which would result in creating a considerable increase in its market share here. The figure of 40% is incredible indeed. The happiest hearsay is that Sportster 883 Superlow, which was initially priced at INR 5,50,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi) , considered to be the cheapest in India would be available for just about INR 3,50,000!.

This is due to the fact that Sportster is the chosen model to be assembled in the Indian plant. Have you ever thought of possessing a Harley-Davidson for yourself at merely 3.5 lakhs or so. Personally, I’ve never even dreamt about owning a Harley-Davidson in the future, but now my instinct tells me that the day is not at all far away. I term it the ‘HD revolution’.

Concerned about the production, it is expected to begin by mid 2011 which I feel might get prolonged to the end of 2011. Whatever, I don’t mind. All that keeps tingling in my ears is ‘Harley-Davidson in India for 3.5 lakhs’.

Regards,
Naren

Harley Davison, one of the cult bike makers have something innovative to offer. All those Harley Davidson fans can now cheer up because for the first time Harley Davidson has come up with a jaw dropping concept of bike customization.

For this Harley has decided to launch a Bike Builder Website that will help people customize their bike as per their requirements. The new web portal is expected to kick start from February 4 2011 and will be called as HD-1 Bike Builder.

Yes, Harley Davidson has decided to make available custom made bikes to their consumers.

This means that consumers who are willing to buy a Harley Davidson can now customize their bike with a touch of a button. This concept was thought by seeing the car companies that offer their consumers with similar customized cars.

People who wish to buy a Harley Davidson can straight forward go to the Bike Builder Website and start customizing their bikes. As a consumer you will have almost 8000 parts in HD catalogue to choose from. After the customization part is done, one can ask the company to deliver the bike to their doorstep.

Bikers even have an option to take the help of the local dealer in getting their dream machines customized, if they are facing any problem while designing their bikes. As of now, all the details regarding the website aren’t released and thus we cannot say much about the HD-1 Bike Builder website. All we can say is that this move from Harley is one of the best and will push them ahead in competition.

Harley Davidson fans have something to cheer about because the famous US based manufacturer has decided to do something huge next year i.e. 2011. News has it that Harley Davidson has decided to launch out two powerful bikes next year in India. The names of the bikes to be launched are “SuperLow 883 and Iron 883”. The company said that it will be launching both the motorcycles next year that are proposed to be produced at their Bawal, Haryana plant. Below is the image of Harley Davidson’s SuperLow 883 that is characterized by a low seating.

These two bikes will be rolled out from their CKD (completely knocked down) facility at Bawal, Haryana. The bikes will be available only on five Harley Davidson dealerships across the country. The company is confirmed that they will be able to bring in both the bikes to India in the middle of 2011.

Harley Davidson’s officials said that the bikes will be available for booking at Harley Davidson dealerships from 1st Jan 2011. With this launch, Harley Davidson is sure that they will be able to grab attention of the Indian motorcycle market and can become ultimate competition for their peers. Below is the image of Harley Davidson’s Iron 883.

Speaking of both the bikes, both the bikes are sleek looking and attractive with a engine of 883cc. SuperLow features balanced handling and control accompanied by low seat height. On the other hand, Iron 883 sports stylish exteriors with responsive handling and durable carbon reinforced drive belt. Iron 883 is an all black bike and will be a joyride for all Harley Davidson enthusiasts. Both the bikes are sleek and their bodies are not overdone.

A few weeks back, Harley Davidson promised to release bikes that are powerful and affordable to a wider section of population. The US manufacturer has really lived up to the expectation by not pricing too much for SuperLow and Iron 883. The Ex showroom costs of SuperLow and Iron 883 will be 5.5 and 6.5 lakhs respectively. One can say that Harley Davidson is coming out with a package of power and cost effectiveness. We will have to wait and see if they succeed in their intentions of grabbing the Indian motorcycle market.

The Harley Davidson Heritage Softail Classic was one of the 12 bikes that were launched in New Delhi’s Auto Expo, which belongs to the Harley Davidson’s Softail family. At a first glance the style of the bike seems to be perfect for touring and is reminiscent of the Harley’s Heritage Softail Classic but once you mount the new FLSTC version the rider would realize that it can be great companion for long-distance rides. The major improvisations of the FLSTC are the engine and the chassis, which makes the whole difference in providing the rider a smoother and a comfortable ride.

The look and style is a sure “turn-on” feature of the bike and especially the Softail series as they have a styling of their own. To add more, with the new FLSTC the engines mounted on the rubber mounts are thoroughly packed in the frame. The new Softail version is braced with a twin cam 1450cc engine, which is far more superior in terms of strength, power and servicing as compared to the Evolution engine that was a prominent feature of the predecessors.

And the most conspicuous fact is that the vibration that almost does not exist in the FLSTC. The engine also comes with an efficient transmission package that ensures smoother & quieter shifting. And of course the FLSTC Heritage Softail Classic has not missed out on the fuel-efficient feature. The leather-studded saddlebags, the handle bar and the detachable windshield add to a comfortable ride.

With so many advantages the bike is a piece to own and preserve for a very long time. As for the pricing, the Harley Davidson bikes don’t come cheap, which sadly is the privilege of the wealthy. The FLSTC Heritage Softail Classic is no different. It comes in the price range of Rs.19,45,000. Hmm… again for the wealthy!

Original Source: Harley Davidson XL 1200N Nightster – Preview from BikeAdvice.in

It is a known fact that in a few months from now that the Harley Davidson bikes will be a seen zooming on the Indian roads leaving the Indian cruisers way behind. Of course there are a few Harley Davidson bikes that one can rarely spot, and XL 1200N Nightster from the Sportster family is one among the bunch of twelve screamers.

Features of the XL 1200N Nightster Well the first look at the XL 1200N Nightster is just enough to set you hearts racing faster. The mean look of the bike is simply tempting and one can hardly wait to mount on this hottie and zoom away with all glory and pride. The cool looks are supported by superb performance, different design and the low seat height will surely make heads turn around in an awe to say the least.

The mid-mount controls, again the rubber-mounted Evolution V2 engine enables a terrific torque enough to pull your head back with the slight twist of the throttle. The bodywork and engine get a black and greyish finish and is very much in line with the Night Rod Special. The XL 1200N Nightster is adorned with black front forks with gaiters, low front and rear suspension and low-rise handlebar that aids in having a comfortable ride. The bike is perfect for urbanites with many versatile features that will make up for a memorable and comfortable riding experience.

Pricing of the Harley Davidson XL 1200N Nightster: Any Harley Davison bike is sure a precious thing to own and precious things demands premium price, which holds good for the XL 1200N Nightster too. The bike is priced at Rs. 9, 95,000 which is rather a sad thing but people who can make this bike their own will hardly have anything to complain about except the envy on others face.

Original Source: Harley Davidson XL 883R Roadster Preview from BikeAdvice.in

As the American biker maker Harley Davidson unraveled 12 bikes that belong to the five model families in India earlier and XL 883R Roadster is from the Sportster clan that attracted me much. The news is that these motorcycles will be made available in five dealerships opened all across India; New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chandigarh are the blessed cities as of now. The booking of the bikes will commence from April 2010 and so you can own your any of the 12 favorite dream machine sometime in July 2010. The XL 883R has got an authentic racing look and “R” precisely stands for racing.

With the chequered flag graphic the Roadster is sure to pound the pavements and steal your hearts. Features of the Harley Davidson XL 883R Roadster The most attractive feature of the XL 883R is the wide rear tire and the short dual exhaust pipes which is an instant addiction. The V2 Evolution, 4-stroke 883 cc engine is rubber-mounted on the chassis and the transmission is much smoother and quieter.

The one-piece two-up seat looks trendy and comfortable. The bike took inspiration from the XR570 racing bike from the Harley’s. The engine is black powder-coated with wrinkle black covers and the visor, side covers, front forks and the air cleaner are given a satin black finish. The low-rise handlebars have also got a touch of black. The fuel tank sports a graphic similar to the racing bikes. The dual front disc brakes, mid-mounted foot controls, side-stand design are the other new features of the XL 883R. The fuel tank has a capacity to hold 12.5 litres of fuel.

The V2 engine ensures to generate maximum torque at lower rpm. The XL 883R Roadster is a fine combination of performance and styling. Pricing of XL883 R Here comes the bitter pill though; the HD XL 883R Roadster comes with a price tag of Rs.7,50,000 and that makes it affordable to only those people blessed with fat Harley wallets. And actually, the price factor will decide the success of the Harley Davidson bikes in the Indian market. With that being said one also couldn’t ignore the fact that there are good number of HD lovers who are eagerly waiting to get their hands on these bikes.
