Bajaj Launches New Discover 100 4G with 4 gears

by Saad on May 3, 2012

We have posted this news that Bajaj has launched a new Discover, I was all confused about the whole story. What is it that the company has changed in the new Discover series that they have launched? The news is that Bajaj has launched a new variant of its entry level Discover 100 4G with 4 gears. Apparently the tag ‘4G’ seems pointing to the new 4 speed gearbox.
2012 Bajaj Discover

The existing bike has 5 gears and the new variant will sport 4 gears in turn shedding close to Rs 2000 from the existing price of the bike. This would also ensure Bajaj a better and more competitive entry point and would equip them to face the soon to be launched, Dream Yuga from Honda. Though we have not ridden the bike but it would be imperative to think that the new gearbox would be more focused to city driving ensuring there is abundant power at lower and mid revs to enable smooth operation in city traffics. It would be interesting to see if there is any mileage drop reported on the new 4 geared version.

There do not seem to be any other changes in the new model. Discover 100 would continue to be powered by a 94.38cc 4 stroke engine which pumps out 7.7PS of power and 7.85Nm of torque.
It is also not known whether the existing 5 gear model will continue to be sold along with the new 4 gear model. We feel it would be better if Bajaj discontinues the 5 gear model to reduce any kind of confusion to buyers and this seems very much possible. There doesn’t seem to be any official word from Bajaj on this development. The bike has already reached dealerships and there is no visual change on the product.

Discontinued Discover 112cc and 135cc, now Discover 100cc, 125cc, 150cc. Increasing number of spark plugs, reducing gears, etc.

What will happen to buyers of older model if they need spares? Bajaj should maintain stable product lineup and have proper long-term product plan. They should decide all this before launch, not change it every year.

Dream yuga enjoys a 110cc engine with 9 Hp power delivery…with 72 KMPL,..
Discover 100 4G is having 7 Hp ….( May be cheper than Yuga )
Bajaj is always introducing a new discover bike every 6 months and discontinue it in the next 6 months…Now what about old buyers?

If you love Bajaj 100 Discover Pl. avoide purchase 5 gears I personally sell my own bike within 11 months because of nocking, block piston problem, skiting on instant bracking I think Design is very good in Bajaj bikes But Purchase department and Quality control department of Bajaj is working low hence so many problems in many parts so no resale for bajaj and other bike manufacturar can overtake bajaj discover 100 and 125 but new discover 100 in 4 gears can improve in problem if purchase department and quality control department work perfectly so if you think purchase 100 discover you can purchase discover 100 with 4 gears only.
